Incredible Redemption Availability at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, through September 2023

If you have a stash of Hilton Honors points waiting to be used, let us tell you about one of the most aspirational redemptions there is, waiting in plain sight and close to home. You can now use your points for an overwater villa at the luxurious Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, all the way during Summer break. There is a tonne of standard award availability between May and September 2023. Read on to know more.

Conrad Maldives Rangali Island

The Conrad is one of the larger luxury properties in the Maldives, with 150 rooms. The property is actually quite big, with one main island and another smaller “quiet” island (families with children below 12 yrs can’t stay on this island) connected by a 500m walkway bridge or using a traditional “dhoni” boat made of coconut palm timber. This property has been a top draw for many folks who like to use their points on aspirational stays and is just right around the corner for those in India. We’ve had many readers head there over the years. Here is a review written by one of our oldest readers about the property.

This property has a tonne of redemption availability from mid-May 2023 all the way to September 2023 for both beach villas as well as overwater villas. That means you can book these rooms for 120,000 Hilton Honors points per night. Conrad is one of the few properties where an overwater villa can be had via a standard room redemption. While it may not sound cheap, it is a neat haircut on the prices offered when booking cash for this property.

This is typically the season where you should expect some rain, and I’ve been to the Maldives in the same season. Rain is usually an hour or two and drizzles at other times.

Hilton Honors members with any elite status (Silver, Gold and Diamond) can book five nights and only pay for four, thanks to Hilton’s fifth night free on award bookings. That means you get five nights for 480,000 Hilton Honors points (equivalent to 96,000 points per night). For those with the American Express Platinum Charge Card, Hilton Gold status is free to them and their add-on card holders.

During this season, the property usually goes for USD 900 or so for the overwater villa, which means the net cost after all gratuities and payments is about USD 1150 (INR 93,000) for the villa per night.

Book Conrad Maldives on Points

There are multiple ways to pony up the points required for this property. If you are in the market to purchase points, Hilton Honors is currently selling points at INR 0.41 per point (0.5 US dollar cents) through March 7, 2023. You can buy up to 80,000 points in an account (you will receive 160,000 points because of the ongoing offer). If you need more, you can buy in the accounts of multiple family members, as Hilton Honors allows the pooling of points across nine accounts, no questions asked. You should read this post if you want to know anything more about buying Hilton Honors points.

If you buy points for the complete trip (5 nights), you will need to get 160K points in three accounts, which comes to approximately INR 196,800, or 2400 US Dollars and combine them into one account. At that rate, you are paying for two nights and getting three nights free, so a 60% Discount on your booking.

You can also transfer points from your accounts from your American Express Platinum Charge Card / American Express Platinum Reserve Credit Card or other American Express Credit Cards at 1 MR = 0.9 Hilton Honors Point. Amex is the only transfer partner for Hilton Honors in India so far.

Bottomline

There is fantastic redemption availability at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island from mid-May through the end of September 2023. This lines up pretty well with the school break in India as well, and now a tonne of airlines operate flights to the Maldives from major Indian cities as well. This is a great way to use Hilton points for a luxury stay in the Maldives at about 60% off.

What do you think of this availability, and will you book? I would love to hear.

  1. The Conrad Maldives is an amazing resort. I stayed there 6 times so far, and would always go back.

However, I would probably not use it for points redemption anymore. Regular room rates have fallen below USD 600 (for most of the dates in the the months mentioned in your article), which makes the Conrad cheaper than the Hilton and only slightly more expensive than the SAII. At the same time, redemption rates are pretty high at 120,000. Looking at the price of points (also in your article), no longer a great deal.

The Conrad used to be USD 1,500 and above and redemption was a “no-brainer”. This year, I will give it a miss due to the disparity between points requirements and cash price.

    • @Jeff, you are talking about the beach villa, but when the overwater villa is the same redemption rates, many folks want that. Secondly, there is 20-30% more you pay as taxes and service charges atop cash rates, absorbed in the redemption rates.
