Citibank’s PremierMiles travel credit card just launched a new promotion offering 50% more miles on all spends between August 1 and September 30, 2013. This means, for airline ticket bookings, you could earn 15 PremierMiles/ Rs. 100, and 6 PremierMiles/Rs. 100 for all other spends. Your bonus PremierMiles, which will be credited after the close of the campaign, are capped at 25,000 PremierMiles per card registered, which technically means, up to Rs. 12,50,000 in regular spend or Rs. 5,00,000 in Airline spend.
The promotion requires registration before August 31, 2013, and you can use this link to register for the promotion. You could register any day between today and 31 August 2013, and will receive bonus PremierMiles for your entire period. Look out for an email from Citibank confirming your registration (within 7 days), else connect with them. If you like legalese, here are the formal T&C.
This is one more great promotion from Citibank after their International & Hotel Spends promotion and Double your Miles promotion last year.
I value PremierMiles at a higher value than JPMiles, the other earnable currency in India, purely because you can transfer them to 7 different airline programs and use them with these program partners. I was able to use PremierMiles for a Singapore Airlines Business Class ticket from Los Angeles to Mumbai earlier this year, and this was my first big redemption of PremierMiles in a while.

Hi AJ, I got the credit of bonus mile.
Hi AJ,
I will be swiping my card in the US on 30th Sept when I will be checking out. It will be 1st Oct in india by then. Will I get the bonus miles?
@SA while I don’t have a definite answer for you, how about settling your charges a day earlier anyways and making sure you get everything counted in.
Hi AJ,
Will add on cards require separate registration.
@AJJ no, they count under the primary card
Following the information and advice in this blog, I acquired a Citibank Premier Miles card. I registered for the 50% more miles. But there is another feature which I think you have not mentioned. Apart from the 10000 miles, they have also offered 1000 bonus miles for the first transaction with a charge slip at a merchant outlet before Aug. 31. They sent a mail about this offer after I had already made the first transaction (which was needed within a time limit for the 10000 miles). They still send me the same mail, saying “We miss you at Citibank”, even though I have been using the card frequently. They will credit the 1000 miles after Aug. 31 according to a reply to my query.
@Saurabh that email has gone out to few people to ask them to activate chip and pin. I’ll post about it regardless
@ AJ – Thanks for the quick response. Cheers.
Have registered for the same, it leads to a screen which says “Thank you for registering. We will update you regarding your request within 7 days”
Do I need to wait for them to officially confirm my registration or can I start the spend right away ? I have an expense lined up for tomorrow and if they indeed take 3-4 days to confirm then I may have to swipe some other card. Thoughts ?
@Amit go ahead and spend. The registration will come through
AJ,
This sounds like a lucrative offer. Regarding your comment that PremiumMiles is rated higher than JPMiles. I believe it is indeed true. Especially given that Delta is a partner with PremiumMiles, and Delta rarely applies surcharge for flights from India.
Thoughts?
