Citibank will offer double reward points on foreign currency spends worth INR 100,000 or more made between December 15, 2019, 0000 hours to January 15, 2020, 23:59 hours. The cumulative spends will be calculated as per the amount reflecting on the statement during the offer period. Standard foreign exchange rates will be applicable.

The promotion is valid on all personal Citi Credit Cards. However, be careful. Add-on cards will be treated as separate cards so do club your spends on one card if possible. Reward points will be credited within 90 days from the date of the transaction. Transactions performed using Dynamic Currency Conversion i.e. where the billing currency for an international transaction has been opted, as INR will not qualify as an eligible transaction.

Here are some of the Citibank Credit Cards which will work with this promotion:

For Citi Prestige cardholders who are holidaying this year, this is a great promotion. Usually, you would earn 8 Miles/INR 100 spent, but now, you get 16 Miles/INR 100 spent, which is a lot of miles for every INR 100 spend. The strategy here is simple. On our upcoming travels, we have just decided to spend on one Citi Prestige Card in our family.

This is a great opportunity to earn a large number of transferrable miles in one place if you are travelling someplace, or are planning to make online purchases in Non-INR currency. The promotion is totally uncapped.

What do you make of the new promotion from Citibank? How would you be using it?

  1. Is it possible to buy tickets from Expedia or other US-based OTAs for an India-US roundtrip and pay in $? Or will Expedia default to INR once I hit the payment gateway? I have an upcoming family trip in J and this seems very tempting even considering the forex charges…. Thanks.

  2. Is this still worth it with the terrible exchange rate provided for credit card charges and the forex fees? I have the option to pay for my son’s college tuitions in the UK using a cc and am wondering if I should do it through the Prestige card. Please advise. TIA.

  3. Good timing. Out of India for 2 weeks and should be able to maximise this – any caps on appends eligible for double points?

    Thanks
