Cathay Pacific Asia Miles offering up to 15% Bonus Miles on Transferring Credit Card Points

Cathay Pacific’s Asia Miles frequent flyer programme is currently running a new transfer bonus for transfers initiated from credit cards, and it might be helpful for those in the region.

Cathay Pacific Asia Miles offering up to a 15% transfer bonus

A new transfer bonus is being offered by Cathay Pacific’s Asia Miles to encourage members of Asia Miles to transfer their miles into the programme. Asia Miles is offering between 10-15% bonus miles on a transfer. Registration is required.

The promotion runs from December 30, 2022, to January 31, 2023. This promotion has no cap on how many bonus miles you can earn.

The bonus miles you receive are per the following tiering:

  • When you convert points into miles and you receive less than 20,000 Asia Miles, you receive a 10% Bonus
  • When you convert points into miles, and you receive 20,000 Asia Miles or more, you receive a 15% Bonus

The bonus miles will post within 8-10 weeks of the end of the promotion, which is similar to United’s timeline for transfer bonuses from hotel partners, which was in September 2022.

From reading through the terms and conditions, it looks like you could transfer from different credit cards, and Asia Miles will provide a bonus on the final number of converted points lodged with Asia Miles between December 30, 2022, and January 31, 2023. So, for instance, if you convert 10,000 miles from American Express and 10,000 miles from Citibank,  you will get a 15% bonus in your account.

As a reminder, in India, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles is a transfer partner with American Express Membership Rewards and Citibank PremierMiles/Prestige. While Amex MR and Citi PM transfer in 2 MR = 1 Asia Miles Mile, Citi Prestige transfer as 1 Prestige Point = 4 Asia Miles.

This bonus might be helpful for those who are looking to fly with British Airways, as typically, the surcharges are much lesser than BA charges via their redemption system.

Bottomline

Cathay Pacific Asia Miles is offering up to a 15% bonus when you convert credit card points into Cathay Pacific Asia Miles by January 31, 2023. However, you need to register for the promotion beforehand. If you want to transfer points from Citi or American Express, then this might be a good time to do it. However, remember that the promised extra miles will only come in by April 2023.

Is anyone taking advantage of this Asia Miles transfer bonus from Credit Card partners?
