Through June 24, 2023, 23:59 Gulf Standard time (June 25, 2023, 1:29 IST), Etihad is offering an opportunity to buy miles with up to a 50% bonus. The promotion being offered is a tiered one, and here are the tiers being offered:

  • Buy 2,000-10,000 miles, and get a 25% bonus.
  • Buy 11,000-25,000 miles, and get a 35% bonus.
  • Buy 26,000-100,000 miles, and get a 50% bonus.

If I go through with the top end of my promotion, I could buy 150,000 miles at 2000 USD, which is 1.38 US Cents / INR 1.14 per Etihad Guest Mile purchased.

The maximum number of miles you can purchase per calendar year is 100,000, but if you are a Platinum member, you get to buy 150,000 miles (ex, any applied bonuses). Miles are usually posted to your account quickly, but at most within 72 hours.

Etihad Airways does not have a global airline alliance membership, but there are some great partnerships that the airline has on its own. These partners have some good redemptions on Etihad Guest, besides redeeming for Etihad Airways. Their partners include:

  • Air New Zealand
  • Air Serbia
  • Air Canada
  • Air Europa
  • ANA
  • American Airlines
  • Asiana Airlines
  • Brussels Airlines
  • Garuda Indonesia
  • Gulf Air
  • Hainan Airlines
  • Korean Air
  • Malaysia Airlines
  • Royal Air Maroc
  • Oman Air
  • Saudia
  • SAS
  • Srilankan Airlines
  • Virgin Australia

You should use an American Express Platinum Charge Card, Citi Prestige or an Axis Bank Reserve Credit Card because the purchase will be processed in US Dollars by Points.Com. This way, you get bonus points for your purchase because it is an international purchase. Additionally, if based in India, your purchase will be before the new timeline for LRS comes in, and you won’t have to pay a 20% Tax Collection at Source for this transaction.

Etihad is offering up to a 50% bonus on the purchase of miles on their latest promotion for the purchase of miles. There are many good uses of the Etihad Guest programme, including flying on American Airlines and on Etihad Airways premium cabins. The promotion is valid till June 24, 2023, 23:59 hours Gulf Standard Time.

  1. Why is this bonus not showing up for some of us? I’ve been trying for the last three days by logging in, and I don’t see any mention of a bonus offer.
