Choice Privileges is the loyalty programme for Choice Hotels Group, which owns brands such as Country Inn, Sleep Inn, and Quality Inn. In the US, Choice Hotels also owns the Radisson brands, such as Park Plaza, Radisson and Radisson Blu and so on. Choice Hotels has launched a new promotion offering points with a bonus, and it might be an excellent opportunity to buy Choice Privilege points at a sweet price.
Purchase Choice Privileges points with a 40% bonus.
Through Wednesday, April 30, 2025, Choice Privileges is offering a promotional sale on purchased points. My account shows up to a 40% bonus, which takes off as long as you buy at least 12,000 points in one transaction.
How much does it cost to buy Choice Privileges points?
Choice Privileges’ pricing when buying points isn’t linear. So you get a cheaper price per point as your purchase goes up. Before any bonuses or discounts, the price ranges from US cents 1.28 (INR 1.09) per point if buying just 1,000 points to US cents 1.03 (INR 0.88) when purchasing 250,000 points.
At the top end of this promotion, you can buy 252,000 points, including a 72,000-point bonus, for USD 1,854 (Indian Rupees 1,58,350). This price is at INR 0.63 or USD 0.74 per Choice Privileges Point.
With Choice Privilege, the promotion usually involves a 30-50% bonus or a 25-30% discount. So this is right down the middle for the offer.
What’s the fuss about Choice Privilege Points?
While I chase Marriott and Hyatt points and others I know chase Accor points, Choice has a special place in the points space as well. With over 7,000 properties in over 40 countries, they have quite the footprint, but these are all mid-end and low-end properties and not as high-end as the other guys. Redemptions mostly go between 8,000 and 45,000 points per night; no formal award chart exists. In India, most hotels are going for 8,000 points.
Choice Privileges points don’t expire as long as you have at least some account activity once every 18 months.
Which credit card should you buy Choice Privilege points with?
Typically, these point purchases are processed through Points.com and not directly by the hotel or airline. However, you will almost always pay in USD/EUR/GBP, not INR. So, the best cards to earn a bonus are Axis Olympus, Axis Reserve or American Express Platinum Charge Card, as these cards offer an international spending bonus. Beyond these, look at any card that provides a reduced foreign exchange spend conversion or one where you want to meet minimum spend requirements.
