To start 2017, British Airways is running a global promotion at the moment, where they are offering 3x the usual number of miles for those who book and fly by March 31, 2017. Here are all the details.

This is a universal offer, meaning your flight with British Airways or one of their joint venture partners will get you triple Avios in any class of service on top of the number of flown miles for the sector. The promotion is valid for flights booked and flown by March 31, 2017, for the first eight sectors flown. Only the base miles you would usually earn are tripled and the class of service miles and cabin bonuses will not be tripled. All fare classes are eligible.

You need to register for this promotion here. The promotion is valid for people based outside the UK/Ireland/USA as of January 3, 2017 and for those in the UK/Ireland/USA as of January 5, 2017. Bonus Avios will be credited within 48 hours of taking the flight. You could fly BA anywhere across the globe, or American Airlines, Iberia, Finnair between North American and Europe qualifies as well (needs to be codeshare with BA prefix).

As a reminder, if you are a BA Executive Club Gold, you stand to get another 100% miles flown. So you could earn up to 600% of miles flown by flying First Class as a BA Gold on a revenue ticket.

• Economy Lowest (Q, O, G): 75% of flown Miles
• Economy Low (K, L, M, N, S, V): 150% of flown Miles
• Economy Flexible (Y, B, H)/ Premium Economy Lowest (E,T): 300% of flown Miles
• Premium Economy Flexible (W)/ Business Lowest (R,I): 350% of flown Miles
• Business Flexible (J, C, D) / First Lowest (A): 450% of flown Miles
• First Flexible (F): 500% of flown Miles

Bottomline

I like this promotion. With direct flights to some of my European destinations I haven’t felt the need to fly British Airways last year, but this has me thinking. I’ve used redemptions from BA Executive Club last year with great success on Cathay Pacific and Qantas, and this is a great way to refill on those points spent. Additionally, there are quite some ways (but not many) to redeem Avios without having to pay stupid surcharges which one could think of.
