British Airways Companion Sale: Great deals on Club World ex-India

British Airways has been offering a companion fare sale for the summers, and added India as an origin market to this sale very recently. The sale is on offer for travel through September 2019, and is valid if two people are travelling together in the Club World cabin.

The British Airways Companion Sale is on offer for sale through August 20, 2019, for travel between August 20, 2019 and September 30, 2019.  The last-minute return fares are pretty attractive, with fares for two passengers going at INR 250,000 to INR 280,ooo depending on your origin city.

The promotional fares from India are available only for travel from Mumbai and Chennai, and requires two people travelling in the Club World cabin on the same flight. For the return, you need to build in at least 4 days stay in London.

  • From Mumbai to London and back, the sale fares are at INR 280,000
  • From Chennai to London and back, the sale fares are at INR 250,000

The fares are available for many dates, and I was able to create 4-5 combinations just by looking at the slider options in the flexible date finder.

The sale is a good one, for many reasons. One of them being the very expensive Air Passenger Duty which is about GBP 172 per head when departing London Heathrow (about INR 15,000), so that is INR 30,000 straightaway explained for your fare.

Additionally, fares are mostly quoting at no less than INR 180,000 for one person in Business Class on the exact same fare rules as for two people, and on most days is going up to INR 2.5 Lakh or so, and so, if you choose to travel with someone, the fares become very attractive with very minor increase in fares.

Remember, British Airways has four flights to Mumbai on most days, so that makes it pretty easy to fly in and out at a time of your choice to Mumbai.

Bottomline

For the reasons explained above, it might be a great idea to take your significant other along if you are planning a trip to London in the next month and a half. And it also might be worthwhile to explore Business Class fares instead of Economy Class/ Premium Economy if a marginal difference makes your travel so much more comfortable.
