One Week Only: Get an Amex Card with bonus points and Amazon Gift Cards (up to INR 1,500)

American Express is running a new promotion to round up the fiscal year end with many new credit/charge card issuances. With the ongoing snafus at Axis Bank Credit Cards, it might also be a great time to consider a new card for your wallet. Here are the details of the cards offered with an enhanced benefit.

American Express Gold Card (6,000 bonus MR + INR 500 Amazon Pay Voucher)

American Express Gold Card is an entry-level charge card from American Express. I’ve had it for over 13 years, and it has given me enough reasons to trust Amex with my business. Cardmembers cannot revolve credit in a charge card and must pay their bills in full at the end of every statement cycle. In exchange, the card has no pre-set spending limit (the algorithms dictate a soft limit, but it is fluid).

The American Express Gold Card offers Membership Rewards points for all your spending at 1 Point for every INR 50 spent. At the Amex Rewards Multiplier portal, it provides 5X points on all spends. The card has a very easy proposition for everyone to make 1,000 bonus MR points every month, just by making six spends of at least INR 1,000 on the card during the month. Additionally, it offers points on fuel and utility spending, which many other cards have shut down recently.

The Membership Rewards points earned can be redeemed for the 18/24K Gold Collection or transferred to two hotel transfer partners or eight airline partners.

American Express is offering the card for a discounted fee of INR 1,000++ for the first year for those who apply through this link. The best part is you also get 2,000 bonus Membership Rewards points on spending INR 5,000 within the first 90 days of getting the card approved (apart from the usual 4,000 points). As a special promotion, you will also receive an INR 500 Amazon Voucher if you apply by March 28, 2024.

American Express Platinum Reserve Credit Card (15,000 Bonus MR + INR 1,500 Amazon Voucher)

This card is one of Amex’s higher-end cards for those who want some of the features of the American Express Platinum Charge Card but do not want to pay the high charges towards annual membership.

On a typical day, on an average spend, you would get 1 Membership Rewards point for every INR 50 spent coming into your account. Additionally, you get a voucher worth INR 500 every time you spend at least INR 25,000 in a calendar month on the card (enrollment-based benefit). You also get 3X MR Points when you use the card to buy vouchers via the Amex Rewards Multiplier portal. Additionally, you get 12 Lounge Access per annum across India, Taj Epicure, and EazyDiner membership and twice-a-month golf benefits.

When you apply using this link, you get the card for INR 5,000++ as the first-year fee and INR 10,000++ for the second year. Additionally, you will get 15,000 MR points on spending INR 25,000 within 90 days of approval (usually 11,000 MR Points). On renewal, you get an INR 10K Taj Voucher when you spend INR 5 Lakh in a membership year and pay the annual fees. During the special promotion, valid for another week, you get an INR 1,500 Amazon voucher upon approval.

Remember that you can hold more than one Amex (two credit cards and one charge card), so if you have any gaps in your credit card portfolio, you should look at plugging it now. Existing card members see a higher probability of approval of the cards for them and, in many cases, are receiving approvals within a couple of hours (subject to working hours).

  1. Today is the last day bit the link seems to have expired. Is it possible to have it running for today?

    • @Neeraj, I can’t help it if Amex changed the promotion before the end of day. No Error on our part. As for your comment being censured, who said?
