Alaska Airlines Buy Miles with up to 60% Bonus Miles

Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan is one of my favourite mileage programmes for many reasons, including its frequent sales, which provide numerous opportunities to buy miles. There is also great value in their redemptions.

Alaska Airlines has launched a sale for miles, which is on offer through December 23, 2024, 11:59 PM PT. This time, Alaska Airlines is offering tiered bonuses to every account. With this promotion, you can receive up to a 60% Bonus when you buy miles, one of the best offers they usually offer. Since the promotional offers are targetted, you might have received the same offer or not (like a 50% bonus offer).

Different accounts have different promotions. However, accounts I know of or manage have received up to 60% bonus offer. Here is the offer I received:

  • Buy 3,000-19,000 miles, and get a 40% bonus.
  • Buy 20,000-39,000 miles, and get a 50% bonus.
  • Buy 40,000-100,000 miles, and get a 60% bonus.

If I go through with the top end of my promotion, I could buy 160,000 miles at 2956.25 USD, which is 1.85 US Cents / INR 1.56 per Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan mile.

The maximum number of miles you can purchase per transaction is 100,000 before bonuses and 150,000 per calendar year. If you have Alaska Airlines elite status, you don’t have any limits on the number of miles you can buy. Remember, you can buy miles more than once. You only need an Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan account that is over ten days old.

Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan is an oneworld alliance member, so you can redeem it on other member airlines. However, Alaska Airlines has some significant partner redemptions, which work in Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Some of their partners I like are:

  • Singapore Airlines
  • Cathay Pacific
  • British Airways

Here is the complete list of Alaska Airlines partners:

  • Aer Lingus
  • Air Tahiti Nui
  • American Airlines
  • British Airways
  • Cathay Pacific
  • Condor
  • EL AL
  • Fiji Airways
  • Finnair
  • Hainan Airlines
  • Iberia
  • Icelandair
  • Japan Airlines
  • Korean Air
  • LATAM
  • Malaysia Airlines
  • Qantas
  • Qatar Airways
  • Royal Air Maroc
  • Royal Jordanian
  • Singapore Airlines
  • SriLankan Airlines
  • StarLux Airlines

Alaska Airlines had enabled awards for Singapore Airlines but eliminated stopovers for awards within Asia. However, they do allow complimentary stopovers on one-way awards otherwise, which many other programmes have. For instance, if you are flying from New York to Delhi on Qatar Airways, feel free to stop in Doha for a few days. Or, if you are flying Singapore Airlines from the USA to India, feel free to stop in Singapore on the way back.

You should use an American Express Platinum Charge Card, an Axis Olympus, or an Axis Bank Reserve Credit Card because Points.com will process the purchase in US Dollars. This way, you will get bonus points for your international purchase.

Bottomline

Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan’s latest promotion on the purchase of miles is ongoing through December 23, 2024 (December 24, 2024, in India Time). The Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan has many great uses. Ultimately, crunch the numbers before making a purchase. You can use them on oneworld member airlines and carriers such as LATAM, Singapore Airlines, and Air Tahiti Nui.

Do you plan on buying Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan Miles with this promotion?
