Air India, the most significant International Carrier from India, has been laying down plans to get even bigger by the day. Also though the US operations of the airline have been loss-making in the past, it is hoping that they will be able to charge the non-stop premium to India and bypass the transition via the middle-east. Delhi San Francisco Air India flights were launched three times a week in December 2015 and then doubled frequency to 6 times a week in November 2016. They started a fifth freedom flight between London and Newark, by launching an Ahmedabad – London – Newark flight. They began flights to Madrid as well in December 2016 and took over the Delhi – Vienna flights from Austrian. I’d say that is a spectacular show given they are going in all directions. But there is more coming for Air India San Francisco flights!
We earlier wrote about the Air India flight to Washington DC from Delhi. This went live on 7 July 2017 as well and is operating three times a week as of now. Next, in line, the launches to Stockholm & Copenhagen, have also completed and they are operating normally there. There has been a lot of conversation on Air India launching flights to Los Angeles. However, it looks like pending the privatisation of Air India that decision has been put on hold.
A fortnight ago, I’d broke the news that Air India is looking to add more flights to San Francisco, as well as Australia. There was a bunch of rumours that those new flights are going to be from Mumbai. However, today there has been an official announcement about the new flights.
Air India already operates six flights a week between Delhi and San Francisco using their Boeing 777-200LR planes.
AI173 DEL0400 – 0700SFO 77L x2
AI174 SFO1130 – 1615+1DEL 77L x2
Now, Air India will be adding three additional weekly frequencies as of March 25, 2018, between the two airports. These flights would also be operated with the Boeing 777-200LR.
AI183 DEL1800 – 2030SFO 77L 257
AI184 SFO0100 – 0600+1DEL 77L 136
This is great news I think that Air India has got their American route network working for them. This is one of the longest flights in the world, and I am glad they can maximise their assets (the B777s)!
Have you flown the Air India non-stop to SFO? What has been your experience?
What are the cities air India likely to connect in United States in their expansion plan?
Is there a plan to double the SFO-DEL frequencies from July ?WHAT IS a the fare of premium economy class on the SFO-DEL sector?
Sir, as per routesonline they are adding 3 additional flights.
