Air India has joined the Independence Day-centered sale bandwagon, attempting to offer discounts on domestic & international flights from India, for ticketing through August 15, 2018.

To avail of this discount, you would have enter 18INDAY in the promo code section while booking your trip on their website, www.airindia.in.This offer is only valid on bookings made directly on the website. Also, this promotion is not valid on Air India Express, Alliance Air flights, and Air India codeshare flights. You can read the other terms and condition on their offer page.

As there was no mention of how much discount this promo code gets you, we tried booking a couple of domestic as well as international trips with and without using the promo code.

On a domestic flight from Mumbai to Delhi on September 5, 2018, the price of an economy ticket, after adding the promo code comes out to be INR 2,866 vs INR 2,942 without the code.

 

For an international trip, we selected a Delhi-Hong Kong flight on September 12, 2018, where an economy ticket was priced at INR 21553 with the promo code vs INR 21968 without the code.

 

At the end what we saw a discount of 2-4%  across bookings which, might not be a lot, but if you are going to travel Air India anyways, this should save you a bit of money.

Bottomline

Air India is usually the last airline to come out with a festive promotion from the airline pack. Though the discount is small, there is no downside in using this promo while booking your next Air India flight.
