Air India Express receives approval to merge AIX Connect (AirAsia India) with itself

In 2022, the Tata Group announced the consolidation of its airlines, AirAsia India and Air India Express. The first step of the process was to complete the acquisition of AirAsia India and rebrand it as AIX Connect. A lot of things were integrated. However, the two airlines have been working with two different Air Operator Certificates, although under a combined management and brand.

Air India Express receives the final go-ahead to merge AirAsia India with itself.

Many discussions have been ongoing about the merger of AirAsia India/AIX Connect with Air India Express. Now, Air India Express and all the associated entities have received the final order from the National Companies Law Tribunal (NCLT) about the impending merger of Air India Express and AirAsia India/AIX Connect. You can read the complete order here. In simple language, page 28 of 31 says the rest of the process must be completed within eight months.

This was the final go-ahead needed, and now the AOP for AirAsia India can be handed back for cancellation. All the aircraft can be transferred in the name of Air India Express once the merger is completed. Also, the crew and all the duplicate systems can be integrated.

Bottomline

Things will move fast now on the merger between Air India Express and AirAsia India/AIX Connect. The airline group has received the final approval from the NCLT to merge the airlines, and while the official timeline is eight months, we should see it move quicker than that.

  1. Will AIX introduce a business cabin à la FlyDubai style?

With Indigo making moves, AIX need to respond and take advantage of the connecting abilities that mainline big brother provides them? Consistency in the premium offering end to end of itineraries will be key, and with an FF program, it should work out.

  2. Truly disgusting flight experiences with air india express.
They say the flight is on time
However the incoming flight has a delayed of 1-2hrs and none staff has a concern and no one at the gate announces the delay. Poor fashioned airlines.

  3. I like the new Air India logo and livery, which are really a great success, but I don’t understand why they putted so much orange coulour in the livery of Air India Express. That gives a rather unpleasant sectarian impression of an airline which is supposed to be welcoming to everybody and to Indian passengers of any religeous community.
I would also be curious to know the meaning of the sky blue and golden coulours which are also to be found in this strange livery.

    • Are colors property of religion?

The fault lies with you I guess for hating some religion so much that you think organisation should stop using them to hurt your feelings.

      • Hello, I just read your lovely comment. Don’t be so disgracious, dear. I hate no one but fanatics and supremacists. Maybe it’s a coincidence that the orange is too present in the livery of Air India Express. Nevertheless, it is a clumsiness that cannot be appreciated by all Indian citizens.
