Air India closes Delhi T3 Lounge (domestic) for maintenance; alternate arrangements made

In 2023, Air India disclosed that they would refurbish the lounges in Delhi and New York for the airline. The lounges are dated and have not been invested in for upgrade for a long time. With the arrival of the Tata Group on the scene, the airline has upgraded the amenities at the Delhi lounges, but the New York lounge has been the stuff of discussion in the western traveller communities, and most of the stuff I’ve heard is not nice (the lounge participates in the Priority Pass network for New York JFK).

Delhi (Domestic) Lounge shut for maintenance.

Air India was left with only two lounges in India (one at Delhi Terminal 3 Domestic and one at International). The airline had announced the appointment of HBA Associates to redesign their flagship lounges. In April, Air India announced that it is moving forward with the renovation of the Delhi Terminal 3 (International) lounge, and is offering the Encalm Prive lounge in the meantime for customers.

Now, Air India has temporarily shut its domestic lounge at Delhi Terminal 3 as well. But it is not for long, it seems, per the text at the AI Lounge Delhi T3, in the meantime, the guests of Air India will be accomodated at the Enclam Lounge. The notice reads,

The lounge services are temporary put on hold because of repair and maintenance.

All business class passengers and Air India Flying Returns Platinum and Gold members are invited to the Encalm Lounge (on your right).

Our dedicated staff will be at the desk to ensure your swift entry.

Bottomline

Air India has shut its own lounge at Delhi Terminal 3 (Domestic) temporarily, and it says it is currently putting the lounge through maintenance. Customers are going to be accomodated at the Terminal 3 Encalm Lounge temporarily. Air India staff at check-in will accordingly issue lounge passes to customers from here on.

Have you tried being at the Air India Lounge and been directed to Encalm?
