At the speed at which Air India has been operating repatriation flights from/to Europe, they were recently ruffling too many feathers. Air India, which was the sole operator of Vande Bharat flights till a while back, was asked to offload passengers flying from Delhi to Paris because the authorisation was only to repatriate passengers from Paris to India.

The Indian borders are closed till July 31, 2020, for now so regular commercial flights are not possible at the moment from India for any airline. Which means the only way to operate to India is via cargo flights or via charters. A third way is to do it via repatriation flights. KLM and Air France have been operating some flights for a while now.

It has now come to be known that KLM and Air France will be operating 21 flights from India to Europe by the end of July 2020. There is also an option to take connecting flights from Europe onwards to Canada, USA, Central and South America too.

Delhi

• KLM operating KL872 to Amsterdam Schipol on July 11/13/14/15/17
• Air France operating AF225 to Paris CDG on July 12/14/16/17

Mumbai

• KLM operating KL878 to Amsterdam Schipol on July 12/13/15/17
• Air France operating AF217 to Paris CDG on July 11/13/15/18

Bengaluru

• Air France operating AF191 to Paris CDG on July 11/13/16/18

Here are the terms from the KLM website to determine your eligibility for the flights.

Current approvals received by KLM  for repatriation operations ex India allow travel of the following :

• EU Nationals returning to home country ( including PR holding spouse and children below 18 years  of age accompanied or otherwise)
• Indian nationals with long-term EU residency permit with final destination within Europe.
• All other foreign nationals returning to their home country.
• Indian nationals with  Green Cards, Permanent Resident permit to Canada, USA & other countries will be allowed to travel only in case of the specified family connection i.e Spouse is a national of the destination country*

Unlike Air India’s flights, which need an agent to covertly book the tickets for you and charge a large sum of money, KLM/Air France flights are all loaded on the website.
