Air India offering free tickets on web bookings

Air India has a new promotion on offer since earlier this week, where they are offering free tickets on booking via their website.

As per the new promotion, called Web Loyalty Bonus 2015, when you book and travel around India on Air India revenue tickets directly booking via their website, you get the following freebies:

  • 10 domestic sectors in economy get you a free economy return ticket (direct flights only).
  • 6 domestic sectors in business class get you a free business class return ticket (direct flights only).

The free ticket is inclusive of base-fare and fuel surcharge, so you only need to absorb the airport charges and taxes on these tickets. The reward ticket is valid for 6 months from the date of issuance or up to July 31, 2016 (for completion of the journey).

The free tickets are issued as reward tickets (in category X for economy and I for Business), hence they don’t earn any reward points.

Take note, the usual booking bonus of 500 Flying Returns miles also apply. To make the redemption, you need to send in all the boarding passes and your choice of segments to Air India on email, and they issue you tickets for the said segment.

If you are an Air India frequent flyer, I’d find this interesting for you to be able to get a free ticket on top of your existing travel. However, I’d have loved this promotion more if AI just gave us a bunch of bonus points and we were able to redeem for a free ticket as per our scheduling.

  1. For me Air India has never been late. I have flown a lot in past one year in domestic and international sector. They are right on time and even earlier in some cases.

  2. In the summer when a UA BOM flight timed out and delayed, I routed to the DEL flight and flew an AI sector in biz.

Was pleasantly surprised at the catering and service – almost comparable to Jet.

However, Jet has now upped its game in biz too – upgraded on 1 sector a few days ago and was impressed – despite that only 2 FAs were working a 7 row biz cabin!

  3. Have you flown AI recently ? has their service offering and on time performance improved in recent times. I had a very bad experience with a delayed flight, and thus tend to avoid AI on work trips as far as possible.

    • @Manan I can’t say much about the service offering, but their OTP looks reasonably good okay these days. Having said that, I don’t use them for my work trips at the moment at all.
