The recent changes announced by Club Carlson, followed by the annual readjustment by SPG, seemed to be beneficial for Indian audiences while some of the most luxurious properties around the world went up in award pricing.
Club Carlson is readjusting 21 properties in India out of a total of 60 properties, and 20 are going south for awards. These changes go in effect for award reservations made after March 15, 2014.
SPG as well is bringing down the award prices on 21 of their properties in India, a lot of them being the Luxury Collection hotels, which are actually signature ITC Hotels. Too bad, ITC Maurya is not one of them!! These changes go into effect on March 4, 2014.
I think I can thank the recent depreciation of the Indian rupee as compared to the US Dollar, and this is one good by product of the same. Now, only if one of these guys brought out credit cards in India, life would be sorted.

Not really impressed with the lower point requirements for Carlson properties in India. Many award rates were pitched at ridiculous levels, e.g. Park Inn Ballygunje Calcutta for 38,000 points, without breakfast! With the adjustment, they are coming closer to reality – but still have work to do.
Absolutely agree with u Ajay! only if we could get the co branded cards in India.
Devaluation of Club Carlson properties especially is very nice for me as I have lots of points and status with them. They have 4 properties in Goa- I think the most from an international hotel chain..
