Air India Express Ups baggage allowance: 30 Kg Free Check-in Baggage on International Routes

Air India Express is taking steps to make flying more convenient and value-packed for its passengers.ine has introduced a new, generous 30-kilogram Today, the airl check-in baggage allowance along with the standard 7 kg cabin baggage. This enhanced offer is now available on all international flights connecting India with the Middle East and Singapore.

Air India Express’ new check-in allowance

On India-Middle East routes, Air India Express operates approximately 450 weekly flights, connecting 19 Indian cities with 13 destinations in the region. On the India-Singapore sector, the airline operates 26 weekly flights, linking Singapore with Chennai, Madurai, and Tiruchirappalli.

Air India Express has announced a significant increase in free check-in baggage allowance on these routes. Guests can now enjoy 30kg of check-in and 7kg of cabin baggage. This is a 50% bump up in the baggage allowance for customers with access to a 20 kg baggage allowance on the Value and Flex fares so far. On the upcoming flights to Thailand (Phuket), the economy baggage allowance continues to be 20 kg.

On international flights where the airline’s Xpress Biz product is offered, the fare will now include a 40 kg check-in baggage allowance, compared to 25 kg on the domestic routes. Guests flying with infants receive an additional 10 kg of complimentary check-in baggage.

This sounds like coming out of nowhere, but this is an excellent move from Air India Express to attract more passengers over to Air India Express to fly with them. But this matches IndiGo’s luggage policies on the routes. Or it is the other way around, and IndiGo has quickly matched Air India Express luggage allowance. I can’t be sure because I haven’t explored both carriers for a while on international flights.
