While I don’t usually write about aviation recruitments around here, given it is not my area of expertise, I thought I’d bring up to notice this one which might bring cheer to many. Jet Airways, which is preparing for a restart after exiting the court-monitored restructuring of the airline, has been hiring for a few weeks now. They initially started with all sorts of positions such as Ground, Revenue Management and so on, but they’ve finally announced some openings which are the face of the organisation.
Jet Airways Invites Cabin Crew Applications
In my view, Jet Airways had some fantastic people who were a part of their cabin crew back in the day. They were all sorts of understated but chic, knew how to make a conversation, and were not a bunch of youngsters running around the cabin, but there were also many a senior folk who had spent tens of years at the airline.
Jet Airways has always made it clear that they would like to offer an opportunity to as many of the earlier Jet Airways staff as they can and who meet the current requirements at the airline. And today, this was reiterated in the airline’s first recruitment call for cabin crew. Jet Airways invited the erstwhile Jet Airways cabin crew to return to the airline, aptly labelling it as a homecoming. And the best part is, this does not jump the gun and filter to those who are perhaps currently working as a cabin crew at another carrier. But as long as they worked at Jet Airways and are willing to be based in Delhi, they are invited to apply.
There’s really nothing like home!

And it seems there was a good turnout as well. CEO Sanjiv Kapoor posted a few hours later on Social Media about the tremendous response they received in the first few hours.
In the 5 hours since we posted this on social media, over 700 CVs received. Heartwarming and emotional for all of us. Here's to making history together! https://t.co/7nehEq1dtA

The plans for the airline’s launch are yet to be revealed, so more such announcements should come up in the days forward. But this is an awesome move to give priority to earlier employees of the airline.
I know the airline keeps getting trolled on Twitter for paying up airline employees from their earlier days. Still, unfortunately, that is not under the ambit of the agreement that the new owner-to-be has to comply with under the plan that was agreed with the Indian NCLT and the committee of creditors. But if they would like, they can apply to come back to work for the airline when it restarts operations.
Bottomline
Jet Airways 2.0 has started recruitment in earnest, and those who were earlier employed with the airline would be given preference, other things being equal. For now, the airline has invited cabin crew to join the airline, especially those who worked with the airline earlier.
What do you think of the recruitment strategy of Jet Airways 2.0?
