Vistara temporarily removes lounge privileges for Delhi departures

Ever since Vistara’s own lounge at Delhi Airport Terminal 3 was closed down, Vistara has been offering customers access to the Plaza Premium Lounge on the Mezannine Floor of the T3 Domestic. During the various phases of the pandemic, lounges at Delhi Airport are subject to different state regulations, however.

Now, it seems that the Plaza Premium Lounge in Delhi Terminal 3 has had to shut down again, with the new decision from Delhi’s Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) which had asked for all restaurants and bars operating in Delhi to shut down with effect from Tuesday, January 12, 2022. Takeaway is allowed, however.

Owing to this, the Lounge has moved to offer a Lounge to Go offering, where the Lounge operator packs you up a bag with a meal, some snack and a bottle of water and any other drinks as well which you can enjoy at your own leisure. To be honest, I do like the Lounge to Go concept. In July 2021, I used the concept to pick up a meal for a short flight where I was not going to get an opportunity to eat for the next 6-8 hours after landing. It had a bag of chips, a proper breakfast and some sweet treats. I had my breakfast on the flight, without having to buy anything from the airline.

Now, Vistara has announced today, via a social media post, that the lounge will be non-operational for Vistara customers.

I am not sure why has Vistara decided that eligible customers who might want to use the grab and go facility should not be able to access the lounge while still being eligible, but essentially, till further notice, Vistara passengers will be unable to access the Delhi Terminal 3 Plaza Premium Lounge.

  1. Frankly that lounge was terrible, well so is the Amex platinum lounge, which is mediocre. With lounge access being a commodity if either vistara or Amex want to talk about premium I think they need to do a rethink of their vendors. Keep up the great work Ajay
