London Heathrow Terminal 4 has multiple lounges, and as a JetPrivilege elite member, I always get invited to the Plaza Premium Lounge when flying Jet Airways. This lounge is one Plaza Premium’s more excellent offerings, and I’m usually comfortable there. Though on my last trip to London, Ajay suggested that I visit the SkyTeam Lounge which is accessible via the Priority Pass.
After clearing security, I took a right and followed the sign leading to the Skyteam Lounge. The lounge is located towards the end, right next to Heathrow’s newest lounge, The House – Home of Etihad Airways and other leading airlines. The entrance to the lounge is through a lit up tunnel of sorts. It reminded me of the mood lighting aboard various aircraft.
Once I arrived at the reception, I asked the hostess if I could use my Priority Pass. She nodded signalling a yes and quickly processed my entry.
She then advised me that the full breakfast buffet is laid out on the first floor and I could use the lift to get there. Instead, I climbed up the flight of steps next to the reception area. The first floor opens into a sizeable seating area, and my first impression was, ‘This is super spacious’. Unlike most lounges that are located on one level, the SkyTeam lounge one is spread across two floors.
The lounge was not at all busy at 7 in the morning, and I had plenty of seating options to choose from at that hour. I could pick a seat on the round centre table, suitable for large groups or by the window side which had no views or towards the end where there were comfortable, bright orange sofas.
I parked myself close to the dining area right next to the living wall. The green and the white colours from the seating gave it an airy and a very fresh feel. The SkyTeam lounge is also one of the first airport lounges I have seen that uses a green patch so beautifully as decor.
The breakfast was laid out in the middle of the first floor. Breakfast buffet included hash browns, grilled tomatoes and cooked eggs laid out. After the eggs the poultry selection. There were sausages and bacon. For the sweet tooth, there were waffles and French toast. Here are some pictures of the breakfast layout.
I wasn’t hungry at that hour, but the waffles looked enticing, so I tried them with some syrup and berry compote. Although not warm the waffle was plump and tasty. Apart from that, the counter had breakfast bakery, fruits and cereals laid out. There was also hot porridge simmering in a pot.
Just behind the buffet counters was the hot beverage counter. The cold beverages and beer were stocked in the refrigerator below. The juices and wine right above.
The top floor also had a chic semi-circular magazine rack. Behind the stand was the entertainment area of sorts with individual TV screens, headphones and high chairs.
The seating on the ground floor (level 1) was similar to the first floor (level 2). There was the green wall that I was in awe of. The window side seating had views of the tarmac.
Behind the reading area, there was a VIP private room and a wellness area and spa run by Clarins. It was closed when I was there, and I presume one has to pay for spa services.
A similar buffet area was in the centre where cold options were laid out. The ground floor highlight was the wine bar on the right-hand corner. The high chairs, the chic white centre table and the wall of wines could compete with any upscale restaurant. It looked beautiful, and I could spot all the way from vintage wines to rose to some a year old Italian Pinot Noir all showcased beautifully in the wine wall.
The washrooms were located on the ground floor as well. The bathroom was quite nice and offered shower facilities to passengers. There’s even an ATM inside the lounge though I could not spot it.
Bottomline
To sum it up, the SkyTeam lounge at London Heathrow Terminal 4 is perhaps one of nicest lounges accessible on the Priority Pass network. Its chic, designed beautifully with lots of space and food spread is excellent. I wouldn’t have an issue spending a few hours here. Amongst the new The House Lounge, Plaza Premium lounge and the SkyTeam lounge this one is my current favourite lounge when I am flying out of London Terminal 4.

I am a LHR based traveller.
Although this is a good lounge, I like the Plaza Prelium for Indian food.
This lounge was relatively quiet on my visit whereas plaza premium was busting, it was late in evening and I guess it was due to many evening flights to India (also connections viaME3) between 8 and 10 pm.
