It has been a few months since  IHG Rewards Club revamped  IHG PointBreaks with three redemption tiers. Select hotels under are now available for 5000/10000/15000 IHG Rewards Club points for stays, which is a massive discount as compared to their full redemption prices. The new IHG PointBreaks list is out now, for the quarter September through November 2018. Here are your opportunities with IHG PointBreaks 2018.

The new IHG PointBreaks list has about 170 hotels are participating. The list has hotels participating mostly in US & China. However, there are two hotels in India and a number of them located close by, in Oman, UAE, and Malaysia. These hotels are open for stays until November 30, 2018, so definitely a good time to plan fall travels. The more excellent hotels do sell out quickly as there are a limited number of rooms available under PointBreaks, so if you like a hotel make sure to book it immediately.

Points + Cash booking is now available

Until 2017, PointBreaks hotels were priced at 5,000 points per night and could be only booked for points. Though now hotels that cost 10,000 and 15,000 points per night can be redeemed for points + cash. The cash component will differ for each hotel so you’ll need to check the price of each hotel. But mostly, the rule of thumb is that you can typically pay USD 50 to lower the cost by 5,000 points, and USD 80 will reduce the price by 10,000 points.

One thing to keep in mind while booking hotels under IHG PointBreaks is that each member can only make two PointBreaks reservations at one hotel, although there is no restriction on the number of days a stay can be booked for.

I’m glad to see eleven InterContinental hotels participating in this time’s promotion. And there are tonnes of Crowne Plaza hotels as well. Some of them are located in key Eastern European destinations such as Kiev and Bucharest, which usually cost a bomb. I’m a bit disappointed that only two hotels in India made it to the list. This time we get two Holiday Inns compared to two Crowne Plazas that we got last time. Nevertheless, these are some great redemption rates. We still see ample inventory strewn around. So if you haven’t booked up, do so now.
