Last Week At The Lounge: August 25, 2018

And the weekend is here again! I’ve spent all of this week dreaming about our next vacation. The fantastic airfare sales on the Kangaroo route almost made me convince Ajay to plan a trip down under (once again). Plus we also managed to get our 90,000 Avios from Iberia’s fantastic offer. So I’ve been busy planning, planning and planning some more. To cut a long story short, it’s been a daydreaming week. Read more on our weekly roundup.

Have you checked out our new events website LiveFromALounge.Plus? Given the number of events that we are planning to do over the coming months, we thought rather than bombard with posts here; we would make a separate website for the events altogether. Sign up for the mailing list there, and we will notify you when an event comes to your city.

For now, we are very excited to be holding the first ever MasterClass in Mumbai next week. It is a sold out day, with a fantastic evening planned with beers with all of you good folks. If you haven’t made plans for September 1 evening. RSVP for Points & Pints where we already have the commitment of 35-40 good people to turn up! It should be an enjoyable evening.

Just a reminder, for the Mileage Mentor MasterClass 2 in Mumbai on September 8, we have a couple of seats which you can still book. And then we take the MasterClass to Delhi NCR, where seats are filling up fast, and we are offering an Early Bird Discount till tomorrow.

In other news, I received my new Jet Airways ICICI Bank co-branded credit card and in the first week of holding the card have gotten myself 10,000 JP Miles and a free movie ticket, with another 8,000 on their way. I share a few reasons why I like the Jet Airways ICICI Sapphiro credit card and what I plan to use it for.

There are significant developments in Kochi as well, and while the Cochin international airport is expected to open on August 29, 2018, we’ve compiled a list of all relief flights operating to Kochi at the moment.

New and Views

Jet Airways Seat Selection went paid sometime last year, and non-elite members have to pay for a seat assignment until 6 hours before the flight. However, the airline is now offering a special promotion, where you can make a seat assignment for INR 200 only on the domestic flights of the airline.

Cards and Rewards

While American Express had quietly shut down the window for Marriott Rewards transfers, it is now open again, and you can transfer Membership Rewards to Marriott Rewards on a 1:1 Ratio.

Deals with Appeal

If a trip to the Kangaroo island is on your bucket list then now is a time to plan it.  Round trip tickets to Sydney are going for as low as INR 30,000 in Economy And INR 1 Lakh in Business Class. Not bad I say.

Mileage Mentor MasterClass Tickets

And while we are on the topic of discounts, you may want to look at the Jet Airways ICICI Bank Sapphiro Credit Card, which is available half the usual price with 100% of the benefits, only through the end of this month.

Happy reading and hope you have a great week ahead!
