Earn 40,000 IHG Rewards Club points through 2017 [1K just to register]

I always look forward to IHG promotions. I’ve made good use of some of them like the Accelerate,  PointsBreak and the Book Direct last year. IHG Rewards Club has now launched it’s Book Direct promotion for 2017 where members can earn 40,000 bonus points.

IHG 1

You get a 1,000 bonus points just for registering and then another 39,000 points for completing 3 stays through December 31, 2017. The bonus points will be earner in the following way :

  • 1,000 points for registration
  • 5,000 points after completing the first Qualifying Stay
  • 9,000 points after completing the second Qualifying Stay
  • 15,000 points on completion of third Qualifying Stay
  • 10,000 points additional bonus after completing all the three stays

IHG2

This promotion is open for stays at IHG hotels in Asia (except Greater China), Middle East and Africa and members must register for this promotion.  Keep in mind that the points will take between 2-3 weeks to reflect in your account.

Bottomline:

This is another good promotion to register for.  40k points are good enough to get a night’s stay at the Intercontinental in Bangkok and Pattaya. Even better you decide to use these points for PointsBreak you could get a straight 8 nights stay for 5,000 points each night.

Have you made use of any IHG promotions. Share with us your tips and hacks.

  1. Hi Ajay,

In the TnC it is stated that,

A stay is defined per IHG® Rewards Club Membership Terms and Conditions as one night or consecutive nights at the same hotel, regardless of frequency of check-in/out (“Stay”). A Stay is constitutes a “Qualifying Stay” when member pays qualifying rates, which include most business and leisure rates at InterContinental®, Crowne Plaza®, Hotel Indigo®, Holiday Inn®, Holiday Inn Express®, Staybridge Suites®, Candlewood Suites®, EVEN® or HUALUXE™ hotels worldwide. Bonus points are not issued for Non-Qualifying Room Rates or Non-Qualifying Stays. “Non-Qualifying Room Rates” or “Non-Qualifying Stay” include the following: any stay at a Kimpton Hotel, net wholesale individual and group rate, certain package rates, employee discount rate, friends and family rate, crew rate, special discounted contract rates, seasonal worker/crew rate, 50% travel club discount rate, travel industry discount rate, distressed passenger rate, IHG® Rewards Club Reward Nights/Airline Hotel Reward rate, rates booked through third party web sites, complimentary hotel Stays and any other rates not defined as a Qualifying Room Rate at IHG’s sole discretion. Only one room per member per Qualifying Stay will be awarded the applicable bonus points. All bookings and stays are to be completed during promotion period between 1 April 2017 and 31 December 2017.

I presume that 1 booking of 4 nights and 1 booking of 1 night both will be 1 qualifying stay. But can you please elaborate the following: “Only one room per member per Qualifying Stay will be awarded the applicable bonus points.” What does this mean?

  2. Wrong! Can’t register for this promo. Needs a promo code so no one can unless targeted. Annoying waste of my time following this wrong post.

  3. Would be helpful to mention in the post that while not clear in in the T&C`s this promotion only members with an account address in the same regions (i.e. Asia (except Greater China), Middle East and Africa) appear able to register.

  4. Come on! If it is targeted then say so! Otherwise just clickbait. Tried to register and need a promo code!!! Frustrating!

  5. Just called IHG: “This promo is for Asia Only.” So… I tried a VPN tried tunneling to both to Japan and Hong Kong. Neither worked.

  6. Doesn’t work for me (member based in the US). Are you certain this is an offer available to IHG members worldwide?

    • When I saw this posted elsewhere a week or so ago, it stated only for accounts based in Asia, Middle East & Africa

  7. Is this a targeted promotion? Or only for GB members? I tried to sign up but was denied. It’s a pretty good and simple promotion – wish I could sign up for it. FYI… I’m a US-based member.
