Air India / SpiceJet on sale for Domestic / International travel

The Independence Day long weekend is almost here. And it is time for the sales to roll in, which should help you plan the rest of your year of travel nicely. While I usually don’t cover sales, seems some exceptional discounts are here for the taking.

Air India

Air India is offering a sale to destinations across the world, for travel between September 15, through December 15 2016. Stations include the closer ones such as Singapore & Bangkok, all the way through to USA & Australia. If you manage to get tickets for the USA (roundtrip) in 50K, I’d say it is a great deal. The Sale is available for booking by August 15, 2016. You could check out the details on www.airindia.in or on OTAs such as Cleartrip, MakeMyTrip, Musafir and Yatra, where you could perhaps get more discounts as well.

Also interesting is their domestic sale, where they are selling seats for INR 1199 onwards, all inclusive. Delhi-Mumbai flights at INR 2599 are clearly cheap (my usual benchmark for a high-frequency metro routes where prices are low due to excess capacity usually)

SpiceJet

SpiceJet also kicked off their sale today itself, and selling fares for the next two days. They have base fares as low as INR 399, though you will have to fish the sectors out. The key is to find the Sale label next to the fares, which will tell you if the fares are on sale or not.The airline claims the INR 399 pricing is on the following routes: Ahmedabad – Mumbai, Amritsar – Srinagar, Bengaluru – Chennai, Bengaluru – Kochi, Coimbatore – Hyderabad, Jammu – Srinagar, Mumbai – Goa and Mumbai – Hyderabad amongst others. SpiceJet is also selling international capacity at a discount, with pricing starting at INR 2999 base fare on the Dubai segments.
