A new fare has emerged for travel from Colombo to Dallas/Fort Worth and back to Colombo, which includes Business Class on Sri Lankan/Etihad, First Class on Etihad and First Class on American Airlines, which is $1450 all inclusive. For positioning, Indians could always use a flight from Jet Airways or Sri Lankan, while other South East Asian nations should also not be hard to position.
The fare is available for $1300 onwards, if you book Colombo – Abu Dhabi – Chicago – Dallas, but this would be an all business class fare. If you route yourself via Paris, you’d also get to experience the wonderful Etihad First class along the way, and get to try out the new American Airlines First Class as well.
Here is a snapshot of the fare from ITA, where you can see it is pretty much open for all dates, short or long dated.
Then I tried to construct the fare on the Etihad website, via Paris, which returned this.
Now, I’ve had the pleasure of flying Etihad 101 between Abu Dhabi and New York JFK, and it was a marvellous experience. If you guys are planning a trip to the United States anyways, you may want to look at this fare as well. And yes, this is a non-refundable fare, so you lose all your money if you don’t travel on the dates you are booked for and want to cancel it.

Thanks so much for the tip! I was scheduled to be in Colombo, so I booked a one way in F (C only from CMB to AUH) CMB-AUH-JFK-DFW for $930. The 15 hr AUH-JFK leg is on EK F, so I am pretty excited about it 🙂
Aj, I searched First Class. Tried 8th May and return 16th June.
@Krishna this may not be available for all dates. your dates show sold out. look up ITA to see what dates are available
It seems that either most dates are sold out or Etihad has changed the prices upwards!!

@Krishna you have to search for First Class, and then this will come up. If you look with Business Class, then, you’ll find Business Class Space only
I think it is a refundable fare according to the fare rules.
@AJ – Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t American’s new First class only on their 77Ws? In that case, that aircraft flies only to LHR and GRU right now, both from JFK and DFW. No CDG. So you’ll have to obtain a routing AUH-LHR-JFK or AUH-LHR-DFW to get the best of both worlds.
