World of Hyatt is offering up to 30% bonus on Hyatt points purchased through February 23, 2018.
The cost of each point under this promotion works out to US$ 1.85 cents, and you can avail the 30% bonus only when you purchase 5,000 points or more. World of Hyatt (WoH) allows members to buy a maximum of 55,000 points every calendar year. If you maxed out this purchase promotion, you would stack up your account with 71,500 WoH points for a price of 1,320 US Dollars or INR 84,000.
I have frequently gained value of INR 2 (3 cents) on my Hyatt rewards stays. For example, In 2016 we spent New Years in Sydney, Australia and used our points for to stay at The Park Hyatt Sydney where we had a room with a view of the Opera House. The standard rooms here during December holiday season is priced at always priced at USD 1000+/ INR 64,000+.
This is a Hyatt Category 7 hotel, and for 30,000 points a night we got a great value of INR 2.2 per point. Buying 30,000 points at a 30% bonus under this offer will cost 576 US Dollars or 36,700 rupees. Now that’s a super value redemption choice at some of the best Hyatt hotels around the world like the Park Hyatt Tokyo and the Park Hyatt Paris – Vendome.
On the other end of the spectrum, we vacationed in Nepal and stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Kathmandu for points+cash. This is a Category 1 hotel available at just 5,000 WoH points to redeem a reward night. We opted to book a cash + points rate at 2,500 points + 50 US Dollars per night and then applied our Suite Upgrade certificates to upgrade the room to Regency Suites. The standard room here costs ~150 US Dollar plus taxes while the Regency suite is priced at ~450 US Dollars plus taxes a night. If you work out a two nights award stay here, then 10,000 points will cost you 216 US Dollars. So you’ll land up saving ~30% money on a two nights rewards stay.
Bottomline
World of Hyatt offers bonuses on the purchase of points many times in a year. Their best bonus offer is 40%. In the last two promotions in 2017, they were offering a 40% bonus on purchases.
Like all point purchase promotions, I think it’s best to crunch the numbers before you decide to stack points. If you need additional points for particular redemption or are planning a vacation to one those aspirational Hyatt hotels like the Park Hyatt Maldives or the Park Hyatt Mallorca in Spain, then this is a good offer to make use. Also if you live in India, the only way today to get Hyatt points without stays is through buying them.
