Last year, WeWork and American Express joined hands for a partnership in the US market. Business Platinum Credit Card members in the US Market would get 12 months of WeWork Platinum Global Access membership. Adding this perk meant that US Business Platinum cardholders could access any WeWork location globally, use the hotdesk (open areas) and access the amenities for a period of one year. After that, a new WeWork American Express Platinum tieup has come to India.
India has become the second market globally where American Express and WeWork are coming together for a partnership. WeWork is a global workspace provider, which provides open spaces/hot desks and private offices for enterprises big and small.
Given the scale of WeWork and its global reach, it becomes a natural choice for business travellers, given you have unlimited internet access even at non-home locations, good coffee and other amenities, and the ability to book out conference rooms for calls and meetings. At LiveFromALounge, ever since we decided to expand the team last year, LFAL itself is working out of a WeWork, and I love the space, given I no longer have to walk into a cafe to work in Singapore or Hong Kong or another part of the world when I am on the road. Just clock into a WeWork, where the internet and printers will work just the way it works for you at your home location. Of course, I need to book ahead, like at least half an hour ahead.
Now, with the new partnership between WeWork and American Express in India, one can get a large amount of discounts and facilities when they use this new American Express benefit.
There are three parts to the new Amex/WeWork partnership in India:
- 25% Discount on WeWork Private offices: WeWork has excellent private office space, for anywhere between one-seaters to even 50 and 100-seaters. You pay a monthly fee per person you hire the office for, and it includes the cost of air conditioning, internet connectivity, lights, electricity, printers and even includes free-flowing hot beverages and participation in community events at your WeWork. You also get credits, which can be used towards meeting room bookings or booking hotdesks at other WeWork locations across the network, anywhere around the globe. It costs one credit to work in a WeWork anywhere else in the world for one day between 9-6. The 25% discount is made subject to you signing up for at least a 6-seater office and committing to it for a 6 month period.
- 25% Discount on Meeting Room Bulk Buying, along with a hot desk: If you are WeWork hotdesk member, you already receive 2 credits per month. But beyond that, you can now bulk buy WeWork credits. Buying 40 Credits would usually cost you INR 40,000, but with this partnership, you can buy them for just INR 30,000. However, this offer is only available at 10 WeWork locations around the country.
- 15% Discount for Meeting Room bookings, even for non-members: Let’s say you are not a WeWork Member, but need a large training room for your team, or a small one for a presentation to a client. You can, via your Amex, now still book these meeting rooms at a 15% discount. Ordinarily, these meeting rooms are not even available to non-WeWork members, but with American Express, they are.
This promotion is available only at the following 10 WeWork locations in India to start,
- Bangalore: Embassy Tech Village, Salarpuria Magnificia, RMZ Latitude Commercial
- Gurgaon: Two Horizon, 32 Milestone, Forum
- Mumbai: Raheja Platinum, Spectrum Tower, Seawoods Grand Central, Zenia
The promotion is available only to the following American Express Card holders, for cards issued in India:
- American Express Centurion Card
- American Express Platinum Card
- American Express Platinum Reserve Credit Card
- American Express Platinum Corporate Card
This one-year long tie-up will be valid for agreements signed by May 6, 2020.
Beyond this tie-up, WeWork has 11 locations across Mumbai, 10 across Bengaluru and 5 across Gurugram, and they are working on opening up in new cities including Pune, Noida and Hyderabad this year. If you are considering shifting offices into one, the best time is to approach them before the office opens up, given you get a pick of the offices available to fit your requirements. You can schedule a call with WeWork using this link.
Bottomline
This is a great way for American Express members to be able to sample the utility of WeWork and see if it works out for them, at a decent 1/4th off. Of course, if you are looking to tie-up with any other WeWork, you can check out all of them here.
What are your thoughts about the new partnership between WeWork and American Express in India?
Ajay,
How much it will cost for an individual?
Thanks
Kumar
Pointless offer. Any WeWork in India currently will give at least 20-25% off with 6 month commitment. And since this is for teams greater than 6, most teams will welcome the lock in discount.
Also, all new WeWorks give first year private offices for price of 6 months when they newly open and there are opening new ones really quick.
Amex need to hire marketing folks who actually know what they are doing. Amateur hour all around lately.
@Amex Guy, WeWork does not give out private offices at half price. That was a one-year-old marketing playbook. Now the focus is on profitability. Unless you book on the day they sign up the building, that isn’t the case. This is not just my own experience, but of other people who I know.
Also, part two of this offer is yet to come hence did not write about it. The same perk for the Corporate Amex Platinum will be launched in India too, soon.
Perhaps you dont many “people” so well then. I can bet you wont publish this. Stop being so arrogant in life, you dont know everything and we know that too.
Ajay is a self obsessed, ignorant, egoistic wannabe. Ignore him.
@Ajay, I got half price offer for 1 year lock in at two locations in Gurgaon as late as end of March. These spaces opened in February.
I got 20% off for 6 month lock in (no minimum seat criteria) last week.
The offers are still on. And half price offer was offered via email, so they presumably sent it out to a lot of people.
@Amex Guy, thanks for the update. Little bit of background having been a tenant for a while now, new locations might deep discount still to fill up the place. Some of the ones on the list are more established ones, such as Raheja Platinum in Mumbai and already at 65-70% occupancy. So yes, the best time is to always negotiate with a branch before it opens.
