West Bengal removes most Covid-19 flight restrictions effective November 1

One of the holdouts of the Covid-19 second wave was West Bengal putting up all sorts of restrictions on flights from various parts of the country, where the pandemic was blazing back in the day in March/April 2021. Surprisingly, these restrictions continued till now with them. So, from places such as Mumbai, you could not arrive in West Bengal all days of the week.

Now, the Government of West Bengal has issued a new order, repealing all sorts of flight restrictions for flights arriving into West Bengal, barring three cities (Pune/Ahmedabad/Nagpur).

You need to be fully vaccinated or need an RT-PCR Negative report within 72 hours to arrive in Kolkata or any other airport operational in West Bengal.

So, with air travel capacity restrictions easing and these regulations set by the state almost gone, expect new frequencies to be announced to Kolkata shortly.

Bottomline

West Bengal has removed the caps on flight arrivals in West Bengal. This will be effective November 1, 2021. This should mean more flights for those flying into and out of Kolkata airport.

Anyone excited about these restrictions finally being lifted?
