Vistara removes data caps on International wifi aboard their 787-9 and A321N aircraft

Vistara, in 2020, became the only Indian carrier to offer wifi connectivity on their aircraft, with their Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A321neo aircraft coming factory-fitted with radomes. As India enabled Internet in its skies, Vistara switched on their Internet service onboard these aircraft and started to offer it complimentary on their flights from Delhi to London on the Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Vistara has been offering their internet connectivity ability free of charge from September 2020 onwards, as they operated flights under the air-bubble agreements. In April 2022, however, they made it a paid offering.

Vistara now offers uncapped wifi on a paid basis.

As a recap, Vistara’s pricing for internet services used to come at various slabs, which could be used, at best, for messaging connectivity. Here were the plans that Vistara used to offer for onboard connectivity. These exclude the 18% tax that will be charged on top (India GST).

However, newer plans updated on the Vistara website indicate that the data caps have now been taken away. The plans are still expensive from an INR perspective (but reasonable when considering them in USD). Here are the new plans.

As you can see, there is a plan for just unlimited chat on the flight (WhatsApp, Messenger, etc.), and then there is a surfing plan and a third plan that would allow you to stream data for your streaming apps as well all day long.

Bottomline

Vistara has introduced all-new plans for their internet offering, which is exclusive to international flights operated by Vistara on the 787-9 and A321neo sub fleets of the airline. The airline will now offer three plans (Chat, Surf and Stream) with different capabilities, but for the duration of the flight.

What do you make of the new internet offerings from Vistara?

  1. good upgrade. although they should specify what is speed caps and names of apps for which the plan is limited to. also they should have option to pay via miles/points.
vistara has the worst program to use miles and upgrade vouchers. in 2 years have not managed to use them even once on any flight.
