Vistara launches free messaging for Club Vistara members flying aboard their 787s and A321s

Vistara is currently the only Indian airline with internet connectivity on board their aircraft, available on their Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A321neo/LR aircraft. The airline launched a free trial run for everyone in 2020, then pivoted to charging everyone for the service. Recently, Vistara moved to unlimited plans.

Vistara launches complimentary messaging for Club Vistara Members.

Vistara has today announced that it has begun offering complimentary messaging for its international flights (operated on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and Airbus A321neo aircraft) for all members of its loyalty program, Club Vistara. This complimentary messaging service is available to all Club Vistara members, regardless of their membership tier, accumulated points, tenure of membership, etc. This makes Vistara the first Indian airline to offer free complimentary messaging to its customers onboard.

This offering includes unlimited data ideal for messaging apps (WhatsApp, Messenger, iMessage and similar services) for all Club Vistara members, which usually costs INR 372.74 per session. Members won’t be able to download any attachments over wifi using this offering.

To activate this service, Club Vistara members must verify their contact numbers and email addresses in their Club Vistara account. Furthermore, they must add their Club Vistara ID to the booking at check-in or before boarding the flight. For members enrolling after booking or at the airport, providing their ticket number/PNR will associate the CV ID with their booking. This service is accessible to members on a single device.

Vistara brings back 50 MB of data for business-class customers and CV Platinum Members.

Vistara has also reinstituted an offer from back in the day, where they used to offer an additional 50MB of data to Business Class and Club Vistara Platinum members, which can be used for web browsing, social media, and staying connected through messaging and email services. Platinum members must activate the 50MB surf package before enabling the unlimited messaging service to enjoy both benefits.

50 MB is an insignificant allowance and will be gone in an instant on board an aircraft unless you ration it.

Bottomline

Vistara has announced complimentary messaging packs worth INR 332.74 on board their international flights where internet connectivity is offered (on their 787 and A321neos) for Club Vistara members, as long as they have their membership numbers on their booking before take off. Club Vistara Platinum and Business Class members also get 50 MB of data complimentary.
