Vistara completes proving flights, on track for license

Air Vistara, the upstart full-service carrier which is backed by Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, seems all set to receive its license soon. The airline had received their first plane a few months ago, but getting their paperwork together turned out to be a little more time consuming than they thought it would be.

Anyhow, it turns out, in the late nights of last week, Vistara’s crew operated DEL-BOM-AMD-DEL and DEL-JAI-DEL to complete the 5 proving flights that are required to get an Airline Operator Permit in India.

With this move, Air Vistara looks all set to take off, and hopes to receive its license next week. We still don’t know a date for launch of operations, but it should be anywhere between end of December 2014 to January 2015, not later.

  1. Finally some good news after all the Spicejet fiasco. But since its being launched as a full service carrier, I dont expect any huge benefit for regular Indian flyer who mostly choose LCCs.

Looking forward to Vistara launch, though its bit sad that they are only focussing on the Northern part of India for the moment. A pan-india launch would have been more fruitful.
