As the vaccination drive against CoVid-19 picks up and gets serious now with 18-44-year-olds out there, there will be a lot more crowd getting out there in spite of the spate of lockdowns most states have imposed in India.
Uber has been offering free rides to vaccination centres, and this might be of interest to those who are stepping out to get vaccinated. Initially, Uber had committed INR 10 Crores to the effort, but they don’t talk about a hard limit anymore and continue to promote the offer.
Each Uber rider is able to get up to two free rides (up to INR 150) when they want to step out to get to a vaccination centre. Here is how to get these free rides:
- Tap the menu in the top left of the Uber app and select ‘Wallet’
- Select ‘Add Promo Code’ at the bottom
- Add the promo code 10M21V
- Navigate to the home screen and enter the pick-up/drop-off location to the nearest vaccination centre
- Confirm your trip
The process works pretty smoothly after. For instance, here is a receipt of a trip I took in March when I had taken a family member for vaccination, and the 150 INR discount applied.
This is a noble attempt by Uber to help people get vaccinated, and if you are lucky enough to win the vaccine lottery, I highly recommend you use their services to go and come back from the vaccine centre.
