Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles offering 20% Miles Back for redemptions made in March 2024

Turkish Airlines’ airline loyalty programme was in the news for its recent devaluations. Now, they are trying to get people excited by a promotion that offers them a path to redemption.

Miles & Smiles 20% Miles Back promotion

Turkish Airlines has launched a new promotion called Spring Promotion at Mills: 20% Refund effective today. Under the new promotion, the loyalty programme, Miles & Smiles, will offer a 20% credit of the miles back to the customer account once they travel on their miles ticket.

The promotion is valid for bookings made with Turkish Miles between March 4 and March 31, 2024, and travel between March 4 and August 31, 2024. You can travel in Business Class or Economy; both will get a 20% miles refund. The refund will be added to your account within one week of the redemption flight being flown.

But before you get too excited, there are specific terms and conditions you must be aware of. The promotion only offers a refund/credit of miles for those who travel on those redemption tickets (the name on the ticket and the account must match) and only for tickets booked for redemption on Turkish Airlines and AnadoluJet, not other Star Alliance member airlines or codeshare flights. Additionally, these miles received in your account as a refund will be valid only for use until December 31, 2025.

This is an excellent promotion for those genuinely interested in using Turkish Airlines flights for their flights and can plan and pay miles for ticketing before March 31, 2024.

There are some excellent deals out there. For instance, Delhi to Istanbul is available for 25K in Economy and 50K in Business Class one-way. This excludes the INR 6,600 surcharge/taxes for economy and 24,000 surcharge/taxes for the business cabin. At 20K Miles + INR 6,600 (including the 20% return), using the redemption to travel to or from Istanbul to India becomes attractive.

Similarly, for flights from India to Europe, you pay 35,000 miles one way for the economy cabin (effectively 28,000). The US sector from India will work out to 80K miles after the 20K rebate is given to you.

Bottomline

Turkish Airlines’ new promotion offers a 20% refund of miles to you for flights booked with TK miles and smiles programme (on Turkish Airlines and Adolujet only) in March 2024 and for travel through August 2024. However, the miles refund only comes back for the primary passenger, and the miles refunded will be valid only through December 2025.

What do you think of the new Miles & Smiles promo, and where would you book tickets for under the promotion?
