Top 10 Hyatt Hotels to Redeem that Cat 1-4 Reward Night Certificate

Earlier in April , I wrote a series of posts and covered the newly revamped, World of Hyatt in detail. In case you missed it here’s the link to each post.

The new program comes with some significant changes. One of these is the opportunity to earn a free reward night certificate that can be used for a complimentary night stay at your choice of category 1-4 hotels worldwide. Every World of Hyatt member (even the base member) is eligible to get this certificate after completing stays at 5 different brands under the Hyatt portfolio. Additionally, Explorist members earn another Category 1-4 reward night after completing 30 eligible nights.

If you are a World of Hyatt member and close to getting that free night, I’ve complied a list of hotels you should consider choosing from. While Hyatt does have a few nice Cat 1 & 2 hotels like the Hyatt Regency in Kathmandu, I wouldn’t consider redeeming a complimentary night at a hotel whicj costs only 5,000 points or 2,500 plus USD 50 on cash plus points.

For the sake of getting maximum return on your reward night I’ve picked hotels where you would get a minimum return value of INR 1 on reward points stay. For example it makes more sense to redeem the free night at The Park Hyatt in Goa, a category 4 hotel than at the Grand Hyatt in Bangkok another category 4 hotel.  Reward night at both the hotels costs 15,000 points per night, though and the rooms in Goa are priced at an average of USD 250/ INR 16,000 hence giving a return value of INR 1.07 per point, while the average price in Bangkok is approximately USD 170/ INR 11,000 per night. Hence only yielding a return value of INR0.74 for every point.

So here are my top 10 picks to consider on when your thinking of splurging that cat 1-4 reward night certificate.

  1. Is the offer not applicable who are at base level?
Do you need a minimum status to redeem points?
I cant just buy points & redeem them?

  2. The problem with Muscat hotel is that exhorbitant visa cost to Oman. Last year I was quoted INR 18000 pp by travel agents authorised by Oman tourism when I was planning a quick holiday..

  3. You are missing the Hyatt Regency Hill Country. In the summer, the rate could go up to $450+ per night. I just redeemed for one night in Independence day weekend and the rate was $469 per night. There is a $39 resort fee though.
