The first round of Starwood and Marriott promotions is coming to an end over the next fortnight. Following it up, Starwood Preferred Guest and Marriott Rewards have announced the details of their new promotions where members will be able to earn bonus points on their stays through July 2018.
Registration for both promotions is open now through June 20, 2018, and bonus points will be earned on stays between April 16 and July 20, 2018.

Mariott Rewards MegaBonus
In this round of MegaBonus Marriott is offering 750 bonus points on every night beginning third onwards. So, if you stay at a Marriott hotel for 4 nights, you’ll earn 1500 extra points for the third and the fourth night.
All Marriott hotels are participating in this promotion except for Marriott Vacation Cub, Marriott ExecuStay and Marriott Executive Apartments. Members can earn a maximum of 36,000 Marriott Rewards points. The registration page for the new MegaBonus is bare basic but it works.
SPG More Nights, More Starpoints
Starwood’s new promotion is exactly similar to Marriott Rewards. Members will earn 250 bonus points beginning their third night. So if you stay at a participating Starwood hotel for 4 nights, you’ll essentially earn 500 extra points. (One Starpoint = Three Marriott Rewards Points)
The Starwood offer is only valid at participating hotels. The good news is that all the Starwood hotels in India are participating including the ITC Hotels affiliated with The Luxury Collection. SPG members can earn maximum of 12,000 Starpoints in this promotion and can register here.
Recap of the First Starwood & Marriott Global Promotions
Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) and Marriott Rewards’ first global promotions are valid for stays through April 15, 2018.
SPG Great Weeks, Grand Weekends is offering members 2x base points beginning their second stay. Additionally, SPG members earn 500 bonus points on weekend nights at participating Starwood hotels.
Marriott’s first MegaBonus in 2018 is allowing members to earn bonus points beginning from their second stay. Members will earn 2,000 bonus points per stay from second stay onwards and an additional 1000 bonus points for each weekend night stay.
Bottomline
It’s interesting to see how for the first time Marriott International has aligned Marriott and Starwood promotions identically. Even the bonus earnings of 36,000 MR points and 12,000 Starpoints have been allocated in the 3:1 transfer ratio between Marriott Rewards and SPG.
Though the bonus earnings in these promotions are not the best as only guests who stay for a longer duration will benefit, it’s better to earn something than nothing at all. Personally, I wouldn’t extend a two nights stay to a third night just to earn a few hundred points but I do know a lot of consultants who have longer stays and stand to benefit from this offer. As always, do register and forget about it, so that if you have any three nights stays, you don’t miss the bonus points.

Can confirm. 3rd night onwards the bonus kicks in. It doesn’t have to be in the same stay.
I think the 3rd night onwards has a different interpretation. It says:
“Starting with your third night, earn 750 bonus points on every night of every stay,”
I take it to mean that after your first 2 nights, every night during any stay will earn the bonus points, not only 3rd and above each stay. So should work for small stays as well.
Does this mean they will only consider 3rd night and onwards of every stay?
