SPG & Marriott elites will get Hertz elite status

Hertz has collaborated with Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) and Marriott Rewards (MR) to give elite members a status upgrade to complimentary Gold Plus status.

Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Programme

SPG Platinum members with ambassador service and Marriott Rewards Platinum Premier Elite members will get President’s Circle status and will be able to retain it as long as they maintain their status tiers with the hotel loyalty programs. Platinum Tier members of both programs will get the Five Star tier.

Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Programme

The upgraded Gold Plus status will reflect within five days from the time member match their Gold Plus Rewards Number with either SPG or MR elite status. Here is the link to avail your match.

Gold Plus Five Star benefits

Five Star is usually earned with ten car rentals annually and comes with all the Hertz Gold benefits plus  the following:

  • One car level upgrade
  • 10% bonus on Hertz Rewards points
  • Bonus of 600 points after every 15 qualifying rentals
  • Limited blackout dates

Gold Plus President’s Circle benefits

The President’s Circle status is usually obtained with 40 rentals annually and comes with benefits such as:

  • Guaranteed one car level upgrade
  • Guaranteed car availability
  • 25% bonus earning on Hertz Rewards points
  • Bonus earning of 600 points after every 15 qualifying rentals

To earn Starpoints, SPG members must add their SPG account number to their car rental reservations or book at spg.com/hertz. They can also continue to earn Gold Rewards if they prefer.

Bottomline

If you have Platinum status with either of the programs, then you should definitely look at matching the status with Hertz. Too bad, however, that Five Star and President’s Circle benefits are available only at participating locations in the US, Canada and Europe.

Have you matched your Marriott Rewards or SPG elite status for your free status on Hertz?

OT. Internationally Amex MR to Hilton swap ratio increased from 1:1.5 to 1: 2. Any idea if same applicable to India.

  2. Thanks for posting this. It was so simple to apply. I heard about the upgrade but didn’t know where to go. I am planning on renting a car this spring and summer. I love your blog, you have great info. Keep it up, please. Thank you!!!

  3. I already have President’s Club through Delta. Too much hassle for 200 Starpoints. also, I rather rent from National than Hertz. You can get National’s top membership from Amex Platinum.
