Singapore Airlines had renewed the PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite status of their members for one year in the earlier phases of the pandemic in 2020, for members whose status would expire between March 2020 and February 2021. Since then, the airline has hardly been able to operate any flights, apart from some relief flights worldwide, and most business continues to be closed.
Singapore Airlines to extend PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Status for another year.
Now, Singapore Airlines is automatically extending all existing PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite statuses, for memberships that will expire between March 2021 and February 2022, by another year. As per Singapore Airlines, this is in appreciation of the loyalty and support that members have shown over the last year, and to ease any concerns that they may have about membership renewal during this time.
For PPS Club members, any Reserve Value that expires between March 2021 and February 2023 will also have its validity extended to between March 2023 and February 2024. This will provide them with more flexibility in utilising their Reserve Value for subsequent membership renewal.
For KrisFlyer Elite members, any Elite miles earned in the 12 months before the latest extension will be automatically credited back into their accounts after the membership is extended between March 2021 and February 2022.
KrisFlyer members will now earn Elite Miles for flying on Scoot & get Milestone Rewards.
Several new features have also been introduced to enhance the KrisFlyer and PPS Club programmes:
- Earn Elite Miles on Scoot Flights: With effect from 1 January 2021, KrisFlyer members will also earn Elite miles on Scoot flights. This will count towards KrisFlyer Elite membership status renewal or upgrade, and redemption for KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards. PPS Club members will also enjoy additional benefits on Scoot flights from February 2021. These include priority check-in and boarding, an additional allowance of 5kg with any baggage purchase, a one-time complimentary booking change, and complimentary standard seat selection.
- KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards: KrisFlyer has launched KrisFlyer milestone rewards, which rewards members for Elite miles earned on SIA, SilkAir and Scoot flights. KrisFlyer members can claim rewards such as KrisPay miles and cabin-class Advance Upgrades onboard SIA and SilkAir flights at various milestones of their miles accrual journey, starting from just 5,000 Elite miles earned. Here are all the new milestone rewards one can accumulate.
The second part looks very interesting because Singapore Airlines is adding on to the rewards for their longtime customers and encouraging them to do more business with them in the times ahead, and will be awarding them over and above the usual perks with perks such as real money (KrisPay), bonus KrisFlyer Miles (25%, 50% and 100%), Redemption Discounts and upgrades.
Bottomline
This is an excellent initiative by Singapore Airlines overall. Due to the closure of flying for most of last year, members would have perhaps looked out in the coming days as when flying returns, all airlines would try and pull the high rollers towards themselves. SQ would not have to try harder later to retain them by extending their status and perks now, and also give them more benefits to look forward to over a while.
What do you think of Singapore Airlines’ new move to renew status for another year and launch Milestone Rewards?
