Singapore Airlines Krisflyer Redemption Chart Changing on January 24

Singapore Airlines Krisflyer is one of the most useful programmes, given SQ’s premium inventory for redemptions is only accessible to Singapore Airlines Krisflyer members, and Krisflyer is partners with all the useful credit card programmes in this part of the world, including HDFC Bank Rewards Points, American Express Membership Rewards and Citibank. Changes are coming to Singapore Airlines Krisflyer Redemption Chart in the coming days.

Back in 2017, the last round of changes was made with regards to the number of miles required for redemption tickets on Singapore Airlines. The changes before that were made all the way back in 2012. The next round of changes is on its way on January 24, 2019.

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Redemption Chart Changes Impact

The upcoming changes are going to mean you will have to pay more miles for Business & First Class redemptions, while Economy class redemptions have been left untouched. Expect to pay anywhere between 3,000 to 15,000 more KrisFlyer miles for Business Class and First Class redemptions. Upgrade charts are changing too.

Medium Haul destinations from India will see a small hike of 3,000 to 4,000 KrisFlyer Miles on redemptions, and the further you go away, the more you will end up paying in terms of miles, a maximum increase of 15,000 Miles. Regional hops such as China, Japan, Japan, Australia will see the most increase in percentage term for Business Class Awards (Zone 4 – 8). For First Class redemptions, the longer haul redemptions, such as those to the USA would be affected the most. Here is a snapshot, in ‘000s of miles.

There won’t be any changes to the Star Alliance Redemptions at the moment, and all the bookings (redemptions) made before January 24, 2019, would be subject to the current award chart.

Among the positive changes, waitlists will now be confirmed at least 14 days prior, and other new stuff is coming too. I will write a separate post to that effect.
