Singapore Air to switch out Airbus A380 from Indian airports (temporarily) mid-2025

Airlines must occasionally switch equipment to ensure a good match between demand and supply. And sometimes, they just need to remove some aircraft to send them for heavy checks, etc, which takes a lot of time. Unfortunately, this move means that Delhi and Mumbai will temporarily lose their A380 equipment in the coming year. Fortunately, they’ve notified of these changes almost a year in advance.

Singapore Airlines to downgauge flights to Mumbai and Delhi temporarily

Singapore Airlines has notified a range of network adjustments to their 2025 northern Summer plans, including changes to many flights to Europe, the US, Australia, and India. Here is the full set of changes.

Delhi and Mumbai receive one A380-800 aircraft every evening, which means that late-night departures from these two airports are on an A380.

SQ A380

From Delhi, Singapore Airlines will operate the A380-800 for the last time on SQ403 (departs 21:55) on June 22, 2025, until it returns on July 28, 2025, to service the sector again.

From Mumbai, Singapore Airlines will operate the A380-800 for the last time on SQ423 (departs 23:40) on July 27, 2025, until it returns on September 1, 2025, to service the sector again.

That would mean that the Suites, which are much loved by many in India, will be temporarily replaced with the first-class cabin on board the Boeing 777.

Bottomline

Singapore Airlines will temporarily reassign some of the A380 capacity used to service Indian routes, and Delhi and Mumbai will both lose their once-daily A380 service. For Delhi, the A380 will be out for five weeks in late June 2025, and for Mumbai, it will be out for six weeks in late July 2025.

What do you make of the capacity readjustment for Singapore Airlines in India?
