I sometimes pinch myself to believe that there is a God. And he gave us the power of earning and burning points and miles to be able to experience awesome travel experiences which we may have otherwise not have partaken in, due to the costs involved mostly. Take the God reference in a lighter spirit and lets head on into this trip report which will be a while in the making. I have to admit there are a lot many other announcements and news that have happened over the past 3-4 weeks and I am trying to bring you perspective on everything as quickly as possible and still relevant.
Coming back to the #redcarpettrip, the planning for our honeymoon started almost at the same time or perhaps even earlier than my wedding, which happened in July 2015. If I remember clearly, the first tickets on this trip were booked way back in January 2015 when we found two Suites class seats to take us from Mumbai to Los Angeles.
I think I was pretty much set on Bora Bora, and I did not give much choice to Shipra on this one. We all know Bora Bora is a far off place in the middle of nowhere in French Polynesia in the South Pacific Ocean. However, this was the kind of distance I needed and wanted from my regular work day to ensure I was not really working on this trip or answering work phone calls/emails. Trips of a lifetime require spending quality time with your partner and not really being stuck with your work. Since I am a workaholic of sorts, the only way to shut me out is to cut off my oxygen, i.e., the phone lines and the internet.
Here are a couple of posts I wrote about this trip over the past few days:
With the trip all planned out, I continued to optimize it till we got on the plane, and even further till we got back home. That is how we got the amazing first class seats in Etihad Apartments. While I will shed some light on the booking process during the course of the reviews, I will also make a compilation of the entire trips costs in miles and points in the end.

While this is a long trip report, I’ll also be adding Shipra’s point of view at various places, given it was also her first experience with many of these products. Additionally, 22 days of travel so there will be a lot more to share and I’ll plug it in at the appropriate places. So I hope you do check in for regular updates on this trip report.
