The oil economy is not doing very well, and this is leading to a change in all the economies who took pride in long visa processes. Earlier this year, we have seen Visa on Arrival being announced by the UAE and Qatar, where earlier it used to be much more complicated to get Visa for these nations.

Now, Oman has joined the ranks. I remember many years ago when I visited Oman for the first and only time, I loved the country. But I had to jump many hoops to get the visa processed. Invitation letters and what not to have my visa sponsored by Oman. Now, it becomes much easier to access this beautiful country.  India is one of the three countries which can get the non-sponsored tourist visa as well now.

Oman has notified that India, China and Russia passport holders will now get a visa on arrival to Oman, subject to the following conditions:

1. You need to hold an entry visa to one of the following countries: USA, Canada, Australia, United Kingdon or Schengen Visa.
2. Your passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months, and you need to have a return ticket and a confirmed hotel reservation.
3. The Visa costs OMR 20 for a period of one month.
4. Even if one person in the family has the entry visa mentioned above, they can bring their spouse and children along as well.

Bottomline

This is a great move for Indians at least, given that Oman is a beautiful country, at least whatever I saw of it. You should definitely put it as a part of your plan if you would want to visit the Middle East. They also have an awesome hotel called the Chedi, which you should look up if your luxury budget looks good!
