Marriott India has tied up with American Express to offer a new promotional 20% discount to American Express Cardmembers who plan a stay with a Marriott property in India for March or April 2021. LFAL Reader Gautam discovered this new discount, and American Express has not emailed members about this promotion so far (turned up on the website as I am writing this). Here are the details.
When you head to the Marriott India website, you get a 20% instant discount on your room to stay at the best available rate at all Marriott’s participating properties in India. To get the discount, you have to use the promotion code D3Q on the Marriott India Website. This will give you an instant 20% reduction on the price of the hotel, booked directly. You will then need to pay with an American Express Card at the time of checkout as well.
This offer is valid for bookings and stays from March 10 to April 30, 2021. Here is the full list of properties, including the ITC Hotels properties that participate in the Luxury Collection in India.
This is a spectacular offer as it is an authentic 20% off, and you can choose to pick it up as a room-only or a room+breakfast offer. Also, this is not just for high-end American Express cards, but all cards with American Express, including corporate cards and third-party cards such as those issued by ICICI Bank/IndusInd Bank and SBI Card.
Here are some rates for a stay in Mumbai in March 2021. As you can see, the rates on Marriott.com are already low. On top of that, there is a straight-up 20% discount.
I stayed at the St. Regis Mumbai for just INR 6,500 a night, and now I see at INR 5,600 ($77) a night as well.
All in all, this is a great promotion, and this also overlaps very well with the double points and double elite nights promotion of Marriott Bonvoy, which will provide some valuable Marriott Bonvoy points alongside.
Here are some great American Express Credit Cards and Charge Cards you can apply for to avail this offer as well if you don’t already have an American Express card:
- American Express Platinum Charge Card (1,20,000 Membership Rewards points for signing up via this link)
- American Express Membership Rewards Credit Card (4,000 Membership Rewards points and free for signing up via this link)
- American Express Platinum Travel Credit Card (4,000 Membership Rewards points and free for signing up via this link)
- American Express Platinum Reserve Credit Card (19,000 Membership Rewards points for signing up via this link)
Book up for a Marriott hotel on the Marriott.com website, save 20% using your American Express for your next staycation or your next business trip.

Any idea if complimentary breakfast is included in this offer? The dates I’m looking for are available but the “fare details” section on the Marriott website only talks about the offer t&cs, not the inclusions or exclusions.
Also, the discount from the equivalent breakfast inclusive fare is only ~10%.
@Ayush, there are two options presented I believe, one without breakfast and one with breakfast. That was when I was checking out various places to research this post.
Hi Ajay,
Tried using the code for Le Meridien Mahabhaleshwar, but it says “The special rate you selected is not available for the dates you requested.” so i assume this is something that they are allocating very few rooms to.
Ganesh
Tried booking for Goa but did not find a place to enter and apply promo code. Very strange.
Hello. Do you think foreign AMEX cards are good for this promotion as well? I’m in India but my Amex card is a Japanese one.
@Japanese, I don’t see a problem with this.
Thank you! But I just checked the rate details and it says “…American Express cards issued by American Express Banking Corp. in India.” so I guess it’s better to avoid for foreigners.
Btw I’ve been following your blog for a year or more. Love it!
@Japanese, thanks for the love.
Have stayed thrice by booking using this code. Have booked and paid using a Visa card (on file in my account) without any issues. Seems the hotels don’t bother which card you finally use to settle payment.
I tried to find 3 nights for JW Mussoorie for April and I get ‘No Dates available for check in’ when I use the code, however if I remove it I see rooms are available for the whole month.
Any idea when we can expect marriott transfer offer from AMEX, its been long time been waiting for it quite while.
@Sai, they have one ongoing in the USA. Let’s hope there is one for India sometime soon.
I have accumulated almost 50k AMEX MR points while waiting for this offer
