It is no secret, that after years of waiting, the best Terminal from across Indian airports and the best lounges came along at Terminal 2 in Mumbai. I’ve visited all the accessible lounges in Mumbai’s Terminal 2, including the International Business and First Lounges, and the TFS Lounge and the recently opened GVK Lounge domestic. The new airport makes it fun to get out of the city from their gates.
Now, on my trip out from Mumbai earlier this week, I got most excited when I saw some new enhancements. There was a lounge staff, walking around offering masala chai to people. Not bad I say for the rainy season where chai is a staple of every Mumbai resident.
And then, when I was serving myself a snack, I saw a new counter open up which I hadn’t seen the last time I was flying out from there, which served up Chaat. Now, they had me at that and I had to try it out! So we ordered a couple of things, and they were served at the table we were seated on.
I think this is the perfect location to eat Chaat, and if you haven’t tried this stuff out, you should really find your way the next time you are around!
PSA, this is not a miles and points post, but I had to tell you guys about the new stuff at my home airport! Given no one else serves up such stuff at their lounges.
Have you guys tried out the cool new additions to the menu of the Mumbai GVK Lounge?

Hi Ajay,
Not related to this post but just wanted to check with you on access to lounges on domestic departures at T2 Mumbai. As mentioned by you above, there are 2 lounges – GVK and CIP (TFS). And I guess if one is not travelling premiere/business with Air India, Jet, Vistara and is neither platinum only option left is CIP (TFS). I used to access the lounge using the priority pass I had with the HDFC Jet World card but recently I upgraded the card to HDFC Diners Black and I was surprised to see the lounge id not accessible using Diners. Also, I believe the lounge is not covered by Visa Signature or Mastercard World lounge program. Am I correct or is it possible to access the lounge without priority pass?
Vishal
@Vishal at http://www.airportlounges.in I host the entire list of lounges in india along with their access policies. Your assessment is correct, the only other way to get in right now is by paying Cash.
Thanks!
I have already contacted HDFC to give them a feedback on complete lack of lounge access (which is one of the selling points of the card) on one of the most important terminals in the country. Hope they do something about it! Is there a way to contact Diners directly to give them the feedback?
Guys, I’ve been heading to the international section more often of late, but now back to some domestic tripping as well 🙂 Cheers, and excited to eat chaat every time I go away now 😛
I had the privilege of having chaat when I had visited the lounge in May. Of course I don’t think they keep chaat at all times. 2 weeks back I took the red eye flight to Goa, there was no live chaat counter. It’s understood that the lounge is more crowded during the day time, hence a great option.
Masala chai I guess has just been introduced (at the onset of monsoon). Looking forward to sipping the same sooner..
They are offering Masala Chai since End May I think. Though if you have a 6:30am flight, the masala chai is never ready.
