Back in 2020, when domestic flights restarted, Mumbai Airport consolidated its operations at Terminal 2, with all airlines operating their flights from the same terminal. Now, as domestic airline operations move towards 80% of 2020 levels, Mumbai Airport has decided to reopen Terminal 1 again to ensure social distancing continues for the time being.
From midnight, March 10, 2021, GoAir, Star Air, AirAsia India and Trujet will resume their domestic operations from Terminal 1. In the case of IndiGo, flights will be operated from both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. We had first reported this move of IndiGo to Terminal 1 earlier in February 2021.
So, if you are travelling on a domestic flight from March 10, 2021, you should check with your airline about the operation of the flight. The following airlines’ operations will be segregated in this manner:
- Terminal 2
- Vistara
- Air India
- SpiceJet
- IndiGo (Flights 6E 5500 to 5999)
- Terminal 1
- GoAir
- AirAsia India
- Star Air
- Trujet
The hygiene and social distancing protocols maintained at Terminal 1 will be the same as those offered at Terminal 2.
Bottomline
If you are scheduled to fly out of Mumbai on or after March 10, 2021, please check with your airline before flying. Various airlines will shift operations to Terminal 1, and if you don’t have your phone number updated on the ticket, you won’t be receiving this information from the airline itself.
