Back in 2020, when domestic flights restarted, Mumbai Airport consolidated its operations at Terminal 2, with all airlines operating their flights from the same terminal. Now, as domestic airline operations move towards 70% of 2020 levels, Mumbai Airport has decided to reopen Terminal 1 again to ensure social distancing continues for the time being.
From midnight, October 20, 2021, GoAir, Star Air, AirAsia India and Trujet will resume their domestic operations from Terminal 1. In the case of IndiGo, select flights will operate from Terminal 1 from October 31 onwards, with most of its flights operating from Terminal 2.
So, if you are travelling on a domestic flight from October 20, 2021, you should check with your airline about the operation of the flight. The following airlines’ operations will be segregated in this manner:
- Terminal 2
- Vistara
- Air India
- SpiceJet
- IndiGo
- Terminal 1
- GoAir
- AirAsia India
- Star Air
- Trujet
- IndiGo (October 31 onwards)
The hygiene and social distancing protocols maintained at Terminal 1 will be the same as those offered at Terminal 2.
Terminal 1 will cater to approximately 156 flights daily, while around 396 flights will ply from Terminal 2.
Bottomline
If you are scheduled to fly out of Mumbai on or after October 10, 2021, please check with your airline before flying. Various airlines will shift operations to Terminal 1, and if you don’t have your phone number updated on the ticket, you won’t be receiving this information from the airline itself.
