Through August 25, 2023, 11:59 PM Central Time, United MileagePlus is offering a bonus/discount on purchased miles. The promotion offers up to a 100% bonus or a 50% discount, which basically works out to the same thing. With the 100% bonus, one can buy 175,000 miles at the price of 1.88 US Cents per purchased mile (INR 1.56 per mile). Hotel Points bonus sales
Purchase Marriott points with a 40% bonus (till September 9, 2023)
Marriott Bonvoy is offering an up to 40% bonus on Marriott Bonvoy Points purchased through September 9, 2023. In this round of points sales, you get a tiered bonus that starts at 30% and goes up to 40%. Marriott Bonvoy has doubled its cap on the number of points one can buy in 2023. Purchase IHG points with an 80% bonus (till September 1, 2023)
IHG One is offering an 80% bonus on IHG One Rewards points purchased through Friday, September 1, 2023. In this round of points sale, you get your bonus straight up as long as you buy a minimum of 5,000 points. Points can be purchased in multiples of 1,000 IHG Rewards points, so you can purchase a maximum of 150,000 points can be purchased (with another 120,000 points coming in as a bonus). Hilton Honors is offering a 100% bonus on Hilton Honors Points purchased through September 19, 2023. Which Credit Card to use to buy miles and points?
Typically, these point purchases are processed through Points.com and not directly by the hotel or airline. However, you will almost always pay in USD/EUR/GBP, not INR. So, the best cards to earn a bonus are Citi Prestige, American Express Platinum Charge Card and Axis Bank Reserve Credit Card, as these cards offer an international spending bonus. Beyond these, you might look at any card that provides a reduced foreign exchange spend conversion or one where you want to meet minimum spend requirements.
