Marriott’s Bonus Elite Nights have posted for 2021

Earlier on this year, Marriott announced that they will be helping their elite members get back on track to retain and enjoy their elite membership in 2021 as well. Marriott has extended the status of members through March 2022 already.

If you had elite status in Marriott Bonvoy programme in 2020, Marriott Bonvoy would grant you 50% of those elite nights, up to a maximum of 50 nights in 2021 in your account, gratis from Marriott. For the various status members, these are the number of elite nights they will get credited in their account in February 2021.

  • Ambassador Elite in 2020: 50 Elite nights credit
  • Titanium Elite in 2020: 38 Elite nights credit
  • Platinum Elite in 2020: 25 Elite nights credit
  • Gold Elite in 2020: 13 Elite nights credit
  • Silver Elite in 2020: 5 Elite nights credit
  • Members: Not Applicable.

In 2020, I similarly received 38 elite nights credit on the back of my Titanium Elite status earned in 2019. In 2021, I have now received another 38 Elite Night Credit on the back of my Marriott Bonvoy Titanium in 2020. If you were an elite member in 2020, via a status extension or earned status, also expect these free elite nights to show up in your account. However, if you earned status via a card such as the American Express Platinum Card, you get to keep the status, but don’t expect free nights to show up if you did not do any stays.  You should head to Marriott.com to check if your elite night credits have posted.

The beauty is, all the bonus elite nights will count towards lifetime status and earn a Choice Benefit once you cross 50 and 75 elite nights respectively. I closed 2020 with 38 elite night credits and 14 paid/redeemed nights, and that took me over the 50 nights barrier to earning my first Choice Benefit for 2020 as well.

This year, with the Double Elite Nights Promotion that will be coming up between February 16 and April 27, 2021, I expect there are more opportunities to earn back status for 2022 as well.

  1. Am gold elite through Amex Plat. Did a one night stay in 2020. Pleasantly surprised to see 13 bonus elite nights posted into my account. Has got me thinking about Platinum elite.

  2. Hi Ajay, are these nights only for the ones achieved the elite status by spending nights? I’m a Gold Elite since Feb 2020 because of Amex Plat Card, but I didn’t get any nights credited into my account
