Bid your Marriott Bonvoy points to meet Lewis Hamilton at Singapore GrandPrix

One of the best aspects of the erstwhile Starwood Preferred Guest programme, which Marriott developed further is the Moments programme, where you can use your Marriott Bonvoy points to buy or bid money can’t buy experiences, all in exchange for your points. I’ve never managed to win one of the bids because the experiences I chase usually are hot in demand and I run out of points to bid at some point of time.

Anyhow, I know a lot of my readers are also F1 fans. Marriott has been a long time friend of Formula 1, via their longstanding sponsorship deal with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team which has Hamilton as one of their drivers.

The last one, of course, is going nuts, with bids placed at 750,000 Marriott Bonvoy points so far. I’m looking at it as an opportunity for two people to meet Lewis Hamilton, who is 4/12 times the race winner on this street circuit, and Mercedes, which is the 4 times car winner at this circuit. I’m not sure how much further will I go in the bidding, but we will see about that.

  1. I won a VIP all-access package for this year’s British Grand Prix, it was amazing. I bid 449,000 points. I got a tour of the garage and team facilities, watched pit stop practice, got to see cars up close and take photos. Watched the first 1/3rd of the race from the garage, with a Mercedes strategist narrating the action on my headset. Rest of the race viewing was in the motorhome and a hill in paddock area. Prior to the race, in the motorhome, met all the key players on the Mercedes team, including a meet and greet with Lewis Hamilton. After the race I went to the podium and was sprayed with champagne and enjoyed post race victory party at motorhome. Not a bad way to experience my first F1 race. It was certainly worth the quick two day trip from Miami. You can only win one F1 trip a year, so I have to wait until next season to do it again, or get invited by someone.

    • Sounds awesome! I am glad you got to go! Was the meeting with Lewis included in the package description? Or did all VIP package winners invariably got to meet him …though not guaranteed? Thanks!
