A Pakistan International Airlines plane has crashed on its way coming into Karachi Airport on a flight from Lahore today. The plane was carrying 91 passengers and eight crew, flying from Lahore to Karachi Airport. The cockpit crew made a Mayday Call to the ATC, reporting the loss of engine power.
Apparently, the plane tried to make a second attempt at landing after a go-around and crashed into a residential colony, Model Colony about two miles out of the airport. So far, two passengers on the plane have been found as survivors. You can hear the ATC audio here.
A video of the incident shows black smoke emerging from the crash site.
Pakistan had just recently opened up commercial flights after a long grounding on passenger aviation due to the CoVid-19 pandemic.
My thoughts are with those on-board and their families.
(This is a developing story)
